I just distressed my own denim shirt – a shirt I bought because it was on sale and I wanted a denim-chambray shirt, and then totally disliked because of its poor fit. This will give it new life! Thanks so much for the inspiration!

I know that you got a lot of hate for this post, and I think it’s very stupid. You are your own person and can do what you want. I personally liked this post a lot!! I love that even after 5 years you still find new content to post about!I l like that you are being creative and trying something new! I admire you so much for this! For those of you that have not read her blogs back in the time (5 years ago?), she used to get some of her J.Crew stuff gifted as part of their PR. So she maybe hasn’t event spent those $80 on it. Also, if you look at the shrivelled label at the neck you can see it’s old. For those of you asking how she got successfull, go and read her posts from the 1st year. For the first two/three months nothing much happened and then other bloggers would get in touch and ask her to promote their blog if they promote hers etc. It was a slow process that seemed to have taken almost a year for her to be recognised and featured on other blogs/magazines. She was lucky because she got onto the blog scene almost 5 years ago and thus had enough time to build up readership before blogging became the next best thing. Now there are many more blogs around which makes it so much harder to stand out initially! As to responding to questions etc. If you’ve got 500 emails a day, responding might take a while. I would actually look at her story as a story of inspiration. Five years ago, she was buying Forever 21 and now she can have Loubutins.

ditto, i used to be a devoted reader, but only check in from time to time. she never interacts with commenters, or seems to answer questions. it’s the same on her instagram account. another thing that is frustrating is that on bloglovin’ her’s is the only blog that doesn’t feature a little picture giving you a peek into the post. i am sure it’s to generate ad clicks.

Obviously she does read at least some of the comments, because she updated the original post that only gave the J. Crew option to including a link to a cheaper Forever 21 alternative and made sure to state that this was an old shirt. I’m not sure which is worse: not reading comments at all, or reading them but never interacting.

I’ve never commented on your site before but I read your blog every day. This post was a little uninspired for me, but hey, we’re not the same person. I’m not going to love every post. After reading all of these comments, I’m glad to see other readers feel the same way I do. You don’t reach out to your readers, you don’t respond to their comments. How do you intend to keep readers if you don’t engage in their feedback? You are a very inspiring person, a lot of people look up to you. I wish you’d show your readers some appreciation, follow-up, and insight for a change. Yes, you are one of the top women’s fashion bloggers. But, we live in a world where blogs were not a big thing three years ago… who knows where that success will go three years from now. Engage in your readers if you want them to help you continue with your success.
