Cupcakes and No Cashmere
Though I wilt in any temperature above 80º, the onset of warm summer nights is always welcomed. With just flickering candles for light, I love being able to sit outside, sans any kind of sweater. This past Friday, another couple invited my boyfriend and me to their apartment for dinner, and the weather couldn’t have provided a nicer ambiance. After a flavorful salad, pizzas with red peppers and sausage, and a couple of bottles of wine, we broke into my contribution to the meal: cupcakes. They were from one of my favorite little eateries in L.A., called La Provence, that’s home to some of the best cupcakes in the city. Since I couldn’t decide on one flavor, I went with the Red Velvet, Chocolate Ganache, Strawberry and Chocolate. As usual, they did not disappoint.
Even though there are a plenitude of shops dedicated solely to cupcakes, they don’t always provide the best options. Have you had similar experiences or are you sold on places like Magnolia and/or Sprinkles?

that dinner sounds lovely, and i miss cupcakes so much! my roommate and i actually made the magnolia bakery cupcake recipe last fall, they were amazing. back in Montreal the cupcake trend was picking up when i left, they had a few cupcake shops that did not disappoint. however i have yet to find a single cupcake here in seoul, although i’ve seen so many bakeries. and seeing your pictures makes me crave them, so i’ll have to make them myself from scratch! i’ll post the results if successful
i LOVE cupcakes. Those pictures are making me crave them so bad!My area is in some major need of a cupcake shop, hm.. i might have to copy vivian & make my own as well:)

Thanks for the tip on the bakery, next time I’m in LA I will check it out. What is it about cupcakes?? We had a major meeting at work last week, big reorganization, lots of new people coming together for a first meeting, a lunch meeting. We served cupcakes, and the entire group of over 20, bonded over those sweet little things! LOVE your blog.
