Crunchy Caramel Corn

In keeping with the current baseball game/carnival-inspired food theme, I made my first batch of Cracker Jacks this past weekend (using a variation of this recipe). If you’re a fan of the boxed original, the homemade variety is even more incredible, with the same balance of sweet and salty, but with a true caramel flavor. Since we had friends over to watch a game, I whipped up a batch and served them in gingham bags for a fun, vintage feel.

What a great idea! Can’t wait to give it a try!
The worst part of living abroad is that you miss out on so many of your favorite snacks. I ADORE Cracker Jacks but they are nowhere to be found here in Sweden. But a few weeks ago I found some at a British shop (umm?) and opened the bag up while I was watching a World Cup game with some guy friends. One loved it, but the other couldn’t quite wrap his brain around the whole sugar-on-popcorn thing. Some people just don’t get it, do they?
Oh Yum, must try, as i live in Australia, we don’t have cracker jacks, but they are mentioned in my favorite movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Mmmm – looks fantastic! Although I can’t watch (silly time difference), I’ve been thinking about what I’d make while watching the World cup – I’d give this popcorn a shot, but perhaps with parm, rosemary, thyme, and a drizzle of a balsamic reduction.

Not fair! Your posts make me want to eat my computer!
yum! i make a ton of homemade (organic) popcorn (it’s an awesome and healthy vegan snack). we’re big fans of popcorn, my husband can literally finish a large movie popcorn in one sitting! i’ve made a few versions (a bit lighter and healthier) at home such as cinnamon spice and “buttery” salt. i should totally see if i can do a vegan caramel version!
thanks for the inspiration!
