Cream of Tomato Soup + Grilled Cheese

September 20th, 2011

L.A. isn’t exactly known for its seasons, which was one of my biggest hesitations when I moved from San Francisco. I have a love/hate relationship with the perpetually warm weather, since it makes it difficult to embrace certain times of year that kind of need to be cold/chilly/below 72°. On Sunday night though, there was a drastic shift in temperature and within minutes, there was a chilly breeze moving through our place. I was planning on serving cream of tomato soup anyway (recipe here), but it was nice that we didn’t have to sweat through the meal. And since soup isn’t complete without a sandwich to anchor it, we made grilled cheese that brought me right back to my childhood.

Heaven! I’ve made this recipe before and it’s just so good. You styled it so beautifully, I love the bowls- they seem perfect for a hearty bowl of soup yet the little handles make them feel so delicate.

I’m actually a huge fan of the cold weather, especially the food associated with the cold weather. This soup looks delicious, but it definitely looks more like a pumpkin or squash soup, although still delicious none the less.

I just made this same recipe this weekend. I have a garden with tons of tomatoes in it, so I made the batch times 6 and froze it so that I can enjoy it all fall.

This definitely one of my top favourite food combinations of all time. Best comfort food ever! I also love frying an egg and putting it in the grilled cheese sandwhich pre-grill. Mmmm :)

Hi Emily! I loooove grilled cheese, and so far, my favorite is Provolone and Raclette (although Raclette can get stinky on the grill). Would love to try making the Cream of Tomato Soup to pair with grilled cheese. :)
