Crave or Save
As soon as the weather starts to turn balmy, I reach for breezy white dresses and colorful flats. It’s a surefire combination that works season after season and is as easy as it is cheerful. When I first spotted these Lanvin Pom Pom Espadrilles, I was smitten with the bright orange and pink colors, but not with the price. These Gap Crinkle Flower Sandals are a great alternative and in shades like “killer tomato” and “watermelon,” it’s hard not to want to swipe them all up.

Definately save!!! I could never pay almost 600 bucks for flat sandals. It also looks like it could be a good candidate for a DIY project! Buy flat sandals, make a big pompom… voila! xxx
definitely the gap – in numerous colours to match whatever you have on!
I actually like the gap version much better
Love the GAP ones, especially with that price! Definitely need those
great tip!
The gap shoes are my favorite too!
I added you to my bloglist!
I have been following your blog for a while. It is inspiring and I love your outfits.
Have a great day! Christine
The Gap one is cuter.

Gap is the best for this! love it…I was thinking of you the other day too, because I saw the most amazing soft, short leather jacket at GAP…they seem to always have a great, cheaper alternative.
Although I love the Lanvins, I would definitely save in this case!
Definitively that’s a save !!! I agree with Gabby / Gipsy about them being a DIY, just add a pom pom and done !!!
I love the GAP shoe. The pom pom would be so easy to construct!
Yes, definitely save! I have sandals just like the Lanvin pair with the covered heel, and they drive me crazy! They rub in the ankle area and give me blisters! I mean seriously…you buy flat shoes for comfort, right? My open heeled sandals with ankle strap never do this. For that reason alone I’d go with the Gap pair, but the price of the Lanvin sandals are just ridiculous! I think you could easily make the pom-pom too!

Forever 21 has really cute crinkly flower barrettes for $2.80 for a pack of two.

Keep up the great work!
Save! I love the Gap sandals. Would look lovely in blue as well!
Definitely the Gap ones – they loo just as good as the others.
Gap Gap Gap! One finally opened here in Bangkok a couple of weeks ago and I am beyond excited. Love the “killer tomato” sandals!

i couldn’t help but smile when i read this post, as by day i’m the retail buyer of these flirty crinkle flower sandals at the gap.
there are so many colors to choose from, but navy, rose verbena (fuschia) and killer tomato are my personal faves.
you’ll have to let me know which color(s) you get…
xo,
sylvie of silver lining
No doubt!! Save!! $600 is too much for these flats!!
I vote to save. There are just as cute!
save!
Ahhh! Love them both!, But in all truth, I would save!
The Gap ones are fabulous and actually look more refined that the Lanvin! I blogged yesterday about Tom Ford’s new lipstick range and in researching shades, came up with the most beautiful photo by Tim Walker – a rich orange lipstick with the most beautiful orange flower in the models mouth that could very well be the inspiration for either of these shoes! Check it out at http://www.teatime-in-tulle.blogspot.com
Keep up the amazing work and congratulations on 2 years! x
Def Gap, no contest. Love them, thanks for sharing!

Definitely save! Gap are cuter by far and I’m thinking the backs on the Lavin would rip up your heels.
Sometimes high end designers really need to relax on their prices, especially when materials themselves can never be that expensive. YAY for the gap, H&M, Forever 21 and others alike!

The one by GAP is better :]
Definitely save!! I actually bought these yesterday… And here in Canada they’re half price!
I actually like the Gap ones better, without even taking the price into consideration. I guess I’m a thrifty girl through and through!
i like the gap ones. i love the lanvin ones. i also feel quite lusty while contemplating these http://www.kurtgeiger.com/online-shop/163334-kurt-geiger-louisa
Gap ones are actually cuter!
Great alternative from The Gap!
Aw they both look so lovely – perfect for spring and summer. Yes, Lanvin is such a great piece, but “ouch” to my wallet. Gap ones are great and cute too – steal!!!
I just bought these the other day! LOVE….
your blog is tupendous and by that I mean stupendous.
if you feel the urge you are welcome to visit my blog,

yay for gap!
S-A-V-E! and use your creative side to make a pom pom in a complimenting colour to adorn the cheaper version – you’re then also guaranteed individualism! XX
I actually like the Gap version better…
Save!! I think I might have to go to Gap really soon!!!
Thanks for sharing!!
http://spottedbym.blogspot.com/
I have to say, I do like the look of the Gap sandals better. But I’m wondering about comfort….I’ve not had comfortable shoes from Gap or Old Navy.
this is a no brainer.
love these!! thanks for sharing!

I actually think the Gap pair is a more versatile style. The big pom pom on the Lanvin pair could become more dated. However, I am guessing the Gap pair will last maybe a summer or two.
oh these are too adorable!
Only if the GAP sandals are comfortable…
I like the Gap ones much better actually :p they’re so gorgeous!
Save! I love that they have watermelon as a color.
The Gap ones for sure!
Those gap sandals are so cute!! I am the same way, white dress, fun sandals and bag and I am good for summer!
http://glamlatte.blogspot.com
The Lanvins are divine, but for the price difference it’s Gap all the way!
Definitely the Gap version, I would save to splurge on heels!

Save 30% w/F&F at the GAP this Thursday – Sunday! What great timing =)
my best friend and i had a conversation about a pair of j crew strappy sandals … if the foot bed isnt padded, there’s no way we’re spending over $100! definitely save.
I like the Gap ones better.
http://www.fashionsnag.com
both please…
SAVE! I love that the GAP ones have a longer row of fluffy flowers. I rather spend on a pair of killer pumps!
I’m definitely getting a pair of the Gap sandals. Added bonus: their friends and family sale starts tomorrow, so you can get an extra 30% off – score!

I long for the day when I can spend so much on shoes. But for now, I will stick with the cheap imitation kind.
I like the Gap ones, actually — I’ve seen them in person and they’re gorgeous.

The Gap ones look more comfortable too!
Before even looking at the prices, I preferred the Gap ones. They’re cuter & also look sturdier (with the leather sole) and more comfortable as well.
I actually love the gap ones!
I’m getting the Gap ones in the mail today. I’m so so excited about them. I got watermelon.
Actually, the Gap ones are cuter I think! I love bright sandals with white dresses-especially ruffled sandals:D

OMG I have almost evey one of those gap ones!!!!! They are so comfy.
XOXO,
http://www.outfitid.com/
i saw those at gap! totally getting them! so cute!
i say save, the Gap sandals are just as cute, if not cuter!
I definitely wanna pick up a pair of the Gaps. But the Lanvin’s are tempting as well. xx
save! save! and fall into the gorgeously great Gap!
Save baby save!
Sooo gorgeous! Love the GAP ones. Good job, GAP!!!
hmmm, $600 for a sandal that you could DIY?
Definitely Save.
I’m going to have to say “SAVE” on this item. Those sandals are adorable and I had no idea that they even existed. Thank you for sharing Emily, because I will be heading to Gap soon!!
Thank you so much for showing a fashion forward and affordable clothing option!!!!
I’d buy super cheap ones like this: http://www.target.com/Merona-Evelin-Thong-Sandals-Patent/dp/B002WFBC62/ref=sc_qi_detaillink
at target and buy about 4 dollars worth of different organza fabric material and make the pom poms myself!! They are SUPER easy!
cut the fabric in circles,
fold in half twice and
sew the point together,
repeat about 8 times.
sew all points together and you have a little pom pom to attach with an alligator clip or ever super glue to your shoe!
(if you use an alligator clip you can change colors with different outfits you wear!)
Love when the weather gets warm! It’s Cold here in NYC still. The GAp ones are adorable!
That is sooo weird, I just wrote a post about the gap and had a pick of the same gap sandals. Sooo weird! I bought them yesterday! velvetcupcakeskvf.blogspot.com
I vote to save and get the GAP version. They are cute, and you can spend the $500+ diffference on another cute white dress.
I LOVE the gap ones! I’m definitely buying a pair!

I love how inexpensive shoes can look just like that designer pair you’ve had your eye on. These Gap ones are a great substitute!
These are both so yummy! I love love love coral color for summer. I do love the Lavin sandals the best, I’m a sucker for anything with huge poms or flowers, but Gap makes just as cute of a pair and they are way cheaper! I couldn’t see spending money for the Lavin ones, but wouldn’t mind if someone gave them to me!
I actually like the Gap ones better!
hands down the Lavin ones…
I prefer the crave but couldnt spend that much on sandals. I bet you could do a fab DIY version of the Lanvins, hint hint!
Gap’s totally going to sell out on these, thanks to you… just ordered mine in Watermelon!

Seriously cute. It reminds me of those necklaces you make.
Save even more at Gap starting on the 18th and help teachers! In store only. http://www.gapinc.com/giveandget/teachforamerica/
i agree i like the gap ones better and you can get every color! : )
I absolutely love the Gap ones! They are so affordable and can jazz up any outfit!

Gorgeous shoes! Oh, I hope it gets warm enough to wear shoes like that soon! I haven’t worn socks so much in all my life!
I actually prefer the lanvin ones. But I wouldn’t pay that much for them. Would buy the gap ones and then make a big pompom myself
I don’t find myself saying this much, but in this case, I think the Lanvin ones are smoking hot and totally worth the extra dollars!
LOVE THIS! Thank you so much for the comparison! I’m going out to buy those immediantly! We’re starting on a steady streak of 60-degree-days. I am SO ready for spring!
first of all, i’m really jealous that the word balmy is even in your vocab right now…it is nowhere near balmy in the sweet south at the moment, but i have july, august and sept to look forward to! the gap ones are cute but this southern belle needs a tiny bit more arch support
you could maek the $600 ones yourself. $600 for sandals?!? never.
I actually like the Gap ones better! Funny, right?
love the colors!
I love both of them! The color is perfect for summer. I once heard that coral can be used like a neutral, and I have to agree. It works with everything for the summer!
I would save, and get the gap ones. I like the Lanvin ones better but they are that different from the Gap ones so I don’t think its worth it.
Check out my blog: asquaredplusm.blogspot.com
I work with two other girls and we have a t-shirt company.
Just wanted to comment that I love your website. You are such a great role model. To me, it’s like taking a glimpse at a young, beautiful, strong woman that I aspire to be like one day. Thank you so much for sharing your gorgeous sense of style and personality to all your readers.
You know what? I like the Gap ones!

I love Gap shoes! Those Lanvins are beautiful, though.
Flat shoes aren’t really my thing, but I like the look of the Gap sandals better: I think the smaller, more refined ruffle is more graceful. Then there’s the price tag – eeesh!
I seen these LAnvin flats some time ago they are way to expensive for flats. Thanks for suggesting GAP. Thats a good pick
http://barelyvogue.blogspot.com/
ohhh good call!
I love finding fashion steals at the Gap, H&M, and F21! LOVE the sandals!
Gap ones are not so bad! however are they comfortable is a good question! i have bought a few shoes from there and not so comfortable. I do like these and the bright shades!!!!
http://www.letterstobetsy.com
Excellent find!
Save! Save! Save!
which ones did you, or are you going to get?!!
http://couturerehab.blogspot.com/
lovee gap!
take care..from mexiico(:
ii like your blog and all your outfits(:
I definitely prefer the Lanvin. I think the pom pom gives them the perfect feminine oomph! That being said, I definitely could not justify spending $600 on a pair of flat sandals, especially since I live in a climate that is often classified as “boot weather.” Boo! Gotta save my pennies for heels!
I just found your blog I love it! the gap shoes are super hard though and I am afraid that they would be super uncomfortable!
http://annawalker1992.blogspot.com/
I vote save. I would much rather spend the money on a great heel or summer wedge.
i prefer the lanvins, but $600? for a sandal? i dunno…. that could be better spent elsewhere….
love the blog btw
Alyssa
http://amcohen.wordpress.com/
As much as I love Lanvin, the gap ones are really cute and much more reasonable
Wow! Those gap sandals are so cute! I should buy those babies before the stores stop selling sandals! Maybe I’ll go this weekend because they’re having a friends and family event with 30% off! I think it’s March 18-21, but I’m not sure! Thanks for being so badass!
you could also buy a pair of emersonmade’s flowers and clip them to the sandals for an ever more similar look….
paying that much for flip flops is just silly!
http://www.heatherinacandyshop.com
Neither… DIY… buy a cheap thong and add the Lanvin pom-pom/flower
While I absolutely love, love, love the crave ones, I’d settle for the save. In fact they might just be “saving” me some money very soon. So cute!
I would most definitely s a v e. Target has some c u t e flip-flops w/ pink flowers too that have I have been coveting for quite a while.
i quite like the gaps
i LOVE the gap ones! steve madden have something similar!
I like the GAP ones better, actually. I say SAVE!
I actually prefer the Gap sandals. It’s kind of shocking. =)
Adorable – I love the grayish / brown color too!
Marisa
http://www.lerainyday.blogspot.com
I love the bright orangy-red colour on both, screams summer. And although I love the Lanvin I’m voting save. I have a few pairs of Gap sandals myself, their great quality.
Love the Gap ones! You achieve the look without the splurge
I picked up the Gap ones in yellow!
I’d say save or DIY
SAVE
the two sandals are virtually the same!
SAVE. they are just SO similar &you would sure save!
I actually got the GAP ones in navy a couple weeks ago, and I love them! They are super comfortable and adorable!
the gap ones are really cute- I saw them shopping yesterday. the others are just too much for sandals!
I love this concept for a blog entry! (In particular I love the phrase “crave or save”) The pair from Gap is a really great alternative find, but I’d secretly (or not so secretly) be drooling over the Lanvin pair, haha. One day when I have money to spend…
