Crave or Save
I’m not big into planes and come to think of it, I despise airports even more. What I am into though, are flying jackets. You can wear the simplest of outfits and throw on one of these and instantly up your cool factor two-fold. I had first professed my love for Phillip Lim’s Leather Flying Jacket here, but like most of the exorbitant items I listed, it was a bit out of my range. Forever 21′s Fleece Trim Moto Jacket has all the great details, but without the crazy price tag (plus I picked one up yesterday and it’s even cuter in person).
What’s your take: is this a crave or save situation?

ahhh the phillip lim is gorgeous!
ooo, i’m usually all for the ‘save,’ but in this situation, i’d have to say the phillip lim jacket is much prettier! i think it’s those slit pocket tabs that do it for me.
i’m excited to see how you’ll wear the forever21 one!
Save for me! The Philip Lim is goooorgeous, sure, but the F21 version gives you the look without the empty wallet.
I have a hard time sometimes spending $$$$$ on super trendy items.

Although I prefer the collar detail on Phillip Lim, I think the F21 will suit female figure a lot better and the colour looks better, too.

You can almost feel how buttery soft that leather would be through the screen! That Phillip Lim jacket is gorgeous, I think the fur makes a big difference, too. But I’d still be pretty stoked to have the F21 one! You can’t argue with $35!

Oh I love the Phillip Lim jacket, it look’s so soft and cosy! I’d probably save on this one, but then again it is a leather jacket so you could have it forever! I’d go with the Phillip Lim!
This is a Crave situation. Some things you really do need to spend a little bit more on. The Phillip Lim is an investment piece and it’s beautiful.
I actually like the Forever 21 version better. It’s so cute!
Money wise, the forever21 version is great, but you can’t save on the details of that philip lim.. that’s just my fantasies talking. :p
SAVE! I like the shape of the F21 much better! The other one is too bulky at the waistline.
It depends on how long you think you’d like this look for. If this feels like something that you would wear for years, and could mix with lots of different outfits, I’d go for the Lim jacket. If it just feels fun now, save the money for something else!
definitely a good move with the save purchase. though it is an awesome piece, i feel it will go in and out a little bit more than your average classic piece, which are usually the only thing I “splurge” on (well, classic pieces and shoes, ha!)
I like the F21 better! It isn’t even a choice, as it is far more flattering and with that price tag who could resist?
I am loving the Phillip Lim jacket soley because I just want to rub my chin on that colar! It looks so luxurious and soft.

SAVE! I actually like the F21 one better! And if I wasn’t pregnant and expanding, I would go buy it too! The whole pregnancy thing is really throwing what little style I had for a loop! :-/

Faux fleece and faux leather kill the save for me, I think i’d try to find one at Gap or Uniqlo that’s real leather and somewhere more in the middle price range
I really prefer the shape of the F21, but the furs in Phillip Lim is much prettier

The Philip Lim jacket is gorgeous but the price tag isn’t! I agree with the other posters opting for a mid-range leather option. Can’t wait to see how you rock the F21 jacket though!

Are we on the same wave length or something?? Yesterday I JUST bought a fleece trim jacket from Forever 21!! Mine is a brown/olive colour. The sleeves are skinny and the zippers are chunky and oversized all over. The collar is larger and stands up when completly zipped.
I saw this one you got too. I JUST posted pics of it mine on twitter!! (karenbritchick). I can’t WAIT to wear it!!

The crave one is awesome but I’m always a save kinda gal.
Unless it’s a jacket you’ll be wearing for years to come.

The F21 jacket would definitely be my choice, but I have a major problem fitting my {big boned} torso into their shrunken people jackets. I couldn’t spend for the other though…kind of dying for a leather jacket though.

Love them both bit you can def tell the difference in quality!

true, price is price for a look. i own a phillip lim leather jacket though and the leather is sooo special…i was taken away smell and feel!
I love Phillip Lim and the coat looks amazing, but I’d say the Forever 21 one is at such a great price that it would be crazy not to pass up!

I think this is one of those situations where the Philip Lim would be a great investment piece, especially if your planning on wearing for years to come. Gorgeous!
See…the F21 jacket looks cheap. But $995 is a pretty hefty price to pay for [somewhat] of a trendy jacket. In this situation, I’d say keep looking, and go halfway in between. Like this jacket @ Bloomingdales…

Not quite as trendy w/the diagonal zipper and the big furry collar – but definitely classy, way more affordable, and I think the removable fur collar is a neat little trick to wear it different ways during different seasons.
i cant stand the feel of fake leather … so i’d crave in this situation! but man … almost $1000!
I think leather is usually worth the splurge.. there’s a tangible difference in the fit, feel, and look of the materials. Plus, a great leather jacket will last you for years!

i’m usually all about the splurge especially when it comes to soft buttery leather, but i have to admit elastic cuffed leather is not a cute look! i say keep searching! i just got a really amazing leather biker jacket for $300!
there has to be something in between, no? the f21 looks cheap but the other one is so crazy expensive. it’s definitely a piece forever (pun!) but I’d spent that money on something else.

That Phillip Lim is positively delicious. I go crazy over anything by him. You can’t beat those details. Who knows, maybe you’ll find it at a Nordstrom Rack one day.

Not that I can afford it, but I would definitely have to say that I prefer the Philip Lim. It’s gorgeous! Very luxe. The Forever 21 version is lacking Lim’s detailing and richness.

Most of the time, when you post the Crave or Save posts, I usually go for the Crave because there’s no real difference and the price is right and the style is great. But here, there’s a big difference in the quality and style as well. So definitely a SAVE!
