Cranberry Orange Scones

March 9th, 2011

When we got back from New Orleans on Monday night, our place was cold and the fridge was empty. Though we were home, it just didn’t feel like it. Perhaps the sudden change from festive parades and Southern hospitality was simply too harsh a transition, but regardless, I had to shake the feeling. I went into the kitchen and despite having little to work with, I made Barefoot Contessa’s Cranberry Orange Scones. Immediately things shifted, and with the aroma of freshly baked scones, it felt like we were home.

  2. I know the feeling and I didn’t even leave town! Mardi Gras consumes your world for 6 straight days and you are left exhausted with an empty fridge! I’m doing a bit of recovering myself today. I sure hope your trip down here was better than ever!

  20. Wow-I’m officially hitting Print and going directly to the kitchen. Yum!

  21. Hi! I love the recipe you used. I have the same BC book, but I have modified the recipe and make blueberry lemon scones. So Good! BTW, the scones freeze wonderfully. I make a batch, cut them to shape them freeze them. I pull them out 2 or 4 at a time and pop them in the oven directly from the freezer. They take about 20 minutes to cook and taste just the same as the day you made them. Cheers!

  22. want one with milk now!
