I’m not exactly one who readily embraces change. I like routines, things in an orderly fashion, and find comfort in consistency. But this past week, I decided to cut my hair – by almost half a foot. Prior to that, I had the same haircut for roughly 25 years. It had become so entwined as part of my appearance that I placed too much emphasis on its importance. Needless to say, I was ready for something different. I started researching looks I liked – and zeroed in on Elizabeth Olsen’s blunt cut that’s neither short or long. I’ll admit that when my hairdresser made that first cut, I nearly fell out of the chair, but I’ve since come around to it. It’s the only time I’ve had an actual style (not just long layered hair), but more importantly, it’s reminded me just how crucial it is to embrace change every now and again.
