Cupcakes and Cashmere

Chim Chiminey

December 12th, 2008

Curling up in front of a crackling fireplace on a rainy day is one of life’s greatest luxuries.  Sadly, my current apartment doesn’t come equipped with one, but I’ve gotten so much joy simply glancing through all of the wonderful images of them at Dominomag.com.  Since so much emphasis is placed on the mantle this month, I thought I’d round up some of my favorite fireplaces that leave me feeling nice and toasty.

Don’t you just want to pull up that stool and roast marshmallows?

I would sit at this table every morning sipping my coffee and warming my back by the fire.

How cozy is that flannel throw and perfectly placed reading lamp?

This is such a clever idea for a non-working fireplace (so is this).

The white washed bricks lend such a relaxed, beachy feel.

Oh yes, I so agree with you. Some simple moments turn to be luxurious if only we manage to enjoy every single moment that’s on our plate with a child’s eye. I particularly love picture nb 3, and can see myself laying on the sofa, reading a book and sipping a hot chocolate… :-) )

i have a fire place that doesn’t work. it would take a lot of work to get it going again, but just having it there cozies up the whole place. these are all so great and open and airy, I like that the fires warm up the spaces. very festive.

That white fireplace is my current inspiration for our new fireplace. My dream is to have a fireplace in the kitchen one day. And the bedroom. So cozy! Though I’m happy just to have one at all:) When it gets to be bitter New York cold in a month or two, I will trade you…you come here for my fireplace and I’ll camp out in LA.

I loved looking through these photos. I’ve been planning to spend tomorrow night curled up by the fire with a cup of hot chocolate wrapping presents and listening to Michael Buble’s Christmas CD. This post is definitely getting me in that mood!
