Chicken Pot Pies
When I was younger, I thought there were few culinary combinations as perfect as those in a chicken pot pie. With its flaky crust and creamy filling of vegetables and meat, it really is the ultimate comfort food. Normally I’d just pop into the nearest KFC, but after seeing Food, Inc. last month, I vowed not to eat from chains that support the inhumane treatment of animals. So, in a torrential downpour, I went out to grab ingredients and whipped up my own batch (thanks to this recipe) of individual-sized chicken pot pies, followed by homemade chocolate chip cookies and Beatles rock band.

Looks delicious and surely tastes better than chain-food
If I ate chicken I would want to recreate this dish. So glad you gave Food Inc. a shout out! I think everyone needs to see it.
looks hearty! great comfort food.
I watched Food Inc. the other night. I had already started to buy mostly organic foods, but the movie really hit the “why” behind it for me. By the way, I love your blog, Emily! I started reading a few weeks ago, its so inspirational.
That looks so yummy! I bet it tastes way better than the frozen ones I eat all the time.
I especially looooove your food posts and can almost taste them! The imagery is divine.
uh, YUUUM. My boyfriend makes fun of me for my obsession with pies, but I can’t help it. They just contain all the best things on one plate.

Chicken Pot Pie is my favorite…talk about a feel-good food. The one you made looks delightful, golden brown top (the crust is the best!) and fresh chicken. You have inspired me to go outside of my cooking comfort zone and give this a try. How delicious!

Oh yum ! You’re such a cordon bleu !!
I didn’t see that and I’m sort of glad. I can’t watch stuff like that. But thanks for letting me know KFC is part of that group. Not that I needed another reason to avoid it, but still! Your chicken pot pie looks delish…Paulie’s fave:)
those look delicious! the little individual dishes are genius.
First, I love your blog, Emily! You have terrific style and a great personality that shines through. Second, thanks for mentioning Food Inc. As a veggie, I think it’s important that everyone see this film! Bravo
i’m happy to hear you aren’t supporting chains that practice inhumane animal slaughter but what about supporting the whole meat industry? Being a veggie is a really great way to say that you won’t stand for the mistreating of animals. I have some great recipes on my blog that are animal free!

OMG. I LOVE chicken pot pies like no other. I wish I knew how to make these. You’re making my tummy rumble!
Mmm. The pot pie is mouthwatering. Do you think tofu would be a good substitution for chicken? Maybe I should skip the meat and just do veggies too. I know what you mean! I rented Food, Inc the other night. Those poor chicks! Have not been able to stomach chicken since….
This looks like the perfect meal for the stormy weather we’ve been having in Southern California.
Yummy Yummy, thanks for the recipe!

Yum! And those little single-serving bowls make them seem even more scrumptious!
I have always loved reading your blog…but I am very compelled to comment now. I really appreciate your public and vocal stand to help stop animal cruelity, you are doing the right thing. You have become very popular in the fashion community, and your influence will help. As always you give such a fresh perspective on clothes, accessories and food and this decision to reject commercial food chains who treat animals poorly continues to be “fashion” forward, as well as humane.
Scrumptious! I. Cannot.Wait. To. Make.It.
This looks so absolutely yummy!
that looks divine!

LOVE that you mentioned Food Inc., but the real question is, who produced the chicken for your pot pie?
