Cherry Meets Melon

January 23rd, 2013

J.Crew Hat, Ray-Ban Aviators, Madewell Sweater, Acne Skirt, Prada Shoes, Clare Vivier Clutch

I usually associate longer dresses and skirts with fancier occasions, but this outfit couldn’t have been more relaxed and comfortable. I’ve had this skirt for a while –  it’s my go-to piece for when I need to punch things up a bit. Instead of pairing it with something neutral (like I did here and here), I loved the way it looked when worn with a similarly bright sweater.

wow!! Who knew that, these colors go well together…xoxo

Just like I sad: looking at the very first outfit post with this skirt you should really opt for the PALER SKIN. It suits you so much better and you look a lot prettier, also I think that first post is one of your best ever but definetely the best out of the three styled with this skirt. Hair and skin are so lovely there. It seems all softer there. Maybe it is because of of the blurriness of the older pic. BTW I prefer the older pics above the newer.

so lovely, and i love nothing more than a floor length skirt. wishing it was warm enough to don what you are wearing here in boston—instead i am armed with layers and layers of wool!

  • deena

pretty color combination! and i love that you’re always willing to take risks with fashion. your blog is such a nice escape! and @alex and all the others who feel the need to leave catty comments… i don’t get it, what’s the point of being nasty? i don’t always like what i see, but i wouldn’t waste my time trying to make others feel crappy. life is too short to be cruel.

  • Toni

    FINALLY, wearing something cute.

I usually associate long with dressed up too, but not this look! I love the monochromatic look.

Killer look…again! I’m keen to try similarly coloured loud pieces together. This is a fantastic idea.

Isn’t the skirt a bit too long, even with the heels?

Cute…but the skirt needs to come up a bit – dragging on the floor isn’t a good look unless the long skirt is formal.

I love that sweater! It’s such a great color and pairs really well with your skin tone.

  • MrsBarso

Im sorry but the skirt is so ill-fitting! And the strings really detract from the zip detailing! I suspect this outfit was used for the photo shoot only…. You’d be ar*se over tit trying to go about your day in that – nothing relaxed or comfortable about it!

Emily, you look stunning and I am deadly in love with this outfit. OMG, that skirt is amazing!

Emily! I have been a huge reader of your blog for so long. I just wanted to say that I keep coming back to your blog because of your genuine voice and COMPLETE lack of narcissism. It is so refreshing to find someone in the blogging world that is not self obsessed, but can still show great fashion! keep up the great work! youre an inspiration to me.

I have to say that sometimes outfits lately were sort of predictable for people like me who aren’t so good at the nuances of fashion, but, this one is awesome and like the comment below — LOVE the hat! I keep trying to downsize my you tube videos and blogs, but, keep yours every time! Thanks.
