Cheddar-Dill Scones
Since autumn officially arrived two days ago, my body has already started to crave warm comfort food. Unfortunately, nothing but ice cubes is comforting in the kind of heat wave we’re experiencing in L.A.; so last night I cranked up the air conditioner and made cheddar-dill scones (recipe here). I had never had savory scones before, but they were moist and flaky and the sharp cheese complemented the aromatic herbs wonderfully. Perhaps I went a bit overboard pairing them with scalding soup, but the seasonal combination was simply too tempting to pass up.

Yummiest of Yum!! That looks delicious, scones and soup = mega comfort and deliciousness.. thanks for sharing and making me hungry!
my new favorite recipe for whenit’s fall and I want to bake but it’s still warm enough for flip flops: salted oatmeal cookies. (It’s on page 150 of the America’s Test Kitchen Family Baking Book.) I’m not sure which I like more, these or Smitten Kitchen’s margarita cookies. But these oatmeal ones are super easy and perfect on an early fall day.
I love those scones (frankly, almost anything Ina Garten makes is delicious), so I thought you might enjoy these cookies, too.
Love your site!
The minute I saw these I knew these were from Barefoot Contessa. She’s my idol, I swear. There are times when I’m watching her show and wish I was Jeffrey!
is it dinnertime yet?? this is killing me! looks delicious
blimey, never had savoury scones?
in england cheesy flakeyness is a daily necessity
though the dill is a rather sophisticated touch
let autumn soup commence

I just had some of Ina Gartens Chedder Dill Scones yesterday, how ironic! they were just as delicious as your pictures make them to be!
