Change In Routine

August 13th, 2010

It’s easy to fall into the same routine night after night.  The TV flickers in the background, dinner is inhaled on the couch and you slump into bed later than you should.   After my trip last week, and all the subsequent catching up these past few days, I’ve been less than creative with my free time.  In an effort to soak up the remaining days of summer, this weekend I’ll be experimenting with new cocktails (my blood orange soda + gin + lemon concoction is pictured above) and hosting a game night.   Sometimes it only takes a couple of ideas to pull you out of a routine rut.

Hosting a game night is actually a really good idea!! I have to consider doing that as well! I have a trip coming up next week and them I am sure the same routine rut will happen to me. How can summer be over when it never came?!!?!?

You are so right – i’ve just returned from a two week holiday myself and feel full of new ideas for things to do/see/try. Nothing like a change of routine to make like a little more fun!

Once I read your blog I felt as though you were describing me! My boyfriend and I often eat on the couch with the TV flickering the background after a hard day at work and university. You have inspired me to do something else other than study and work. My boyfriend and I have just completed creating our garden beds and vegie patch and tackled the crap in our garage that has been building up for six months. Next we’re planning a bike ride as soon as the weather gets better and I’ve decided to go back to baking twice a week. Thanks for the insight!

okay i am going to use the ingredients you named and just wing it on the amount of alcohol and whatnot because that drink looks damn good! im a gin and tonic girl, so any drinks including gin are automatically delish in my book.

I can relate about the lack of creativity after a trip. I am going through the same thing. Hopefully, I can use the craft supplies I bought during my trip very soon.
