Cupcakes and Cashmere

Cappuccino Pops

May 23rd, 2012

When we were in Italy, we’d duck into cafes each afternoon to sip espressos at the counter. It was such a nice ritual and the caffeine was necessary in order to continue our marathon walking tours of the cities. Since I’ve been back, I’ve noticed that at around 3pm everyday I hit a slump. I feel sluggish and unproductive, but the thought of brewing up a pot of hot coffee doesn’t sound appealing. Since it’s officially Popsicle weather in L.A., I made a batch of cappuccino pops (similar recipe here) that are just the refreshing jolt I need to power through the day.

This looks perfect for the summer! Especially when you need a little energy boost without having to sip on a hot cup of coffee! What a great idea! I still need to try making homemade popsicles!

I love these but I would love to know the changes you’ve made to the original recipe. Wondering if you changed the condensed milk with something different, to cut sugar and fat?

I lived in Cambodia and every day before my last classes where I taught English I would need a coffee and the little old coffee lady at the corner had just the thing! Iced Vietnamese coffee. So deliciously strong and sweet at the same time. Super strong dripped coffee into some condensed milk and then topped with ice and swirled around. You should try it!!

These look so yummy. I couldn’t get enough of Italian espresso when I lived there, either. But did you know it’s taboo in Italy to order coffee with milk in it (esp cappuccinos) after lunch?
