Butterscotch Pot de Crème

May 8th, 2012

There are a lot of great desserts in L.A., but none of them are quite as special as Gjelina’s Butterscotch Pot de Crème (Pizzeria Mozza’s Butterscotch Budino is a close second). It’s pretty much a weekend staple for me, which is kind of horrifying seeing as I now know just how much butter/heavy cream/crème fraîche is involved. It’s an insanely rich butterscotch pudding served with a dollop of whipped crème fraîche, a drizzle of caramel, and finished with a flaky sea salt. At the restaurant, they’re served in coffee cups, but these vintage teacups made for an even cuter presentation (and would be perfect if you’re planning a Mother’s Day brunch this weekend).

Although I couldn’t personally eat it. I know my mum would go crazy for this, plus the dainty floral tea-cups work wonderfully!

I agree Gjeline and Mozza’s butterscotch are the best :) I hope I find something close to those here in NY…any suggestions?

I HAVE been planning a Mother’s Day brunch and I’ve been intending on making a special dessert. I’ve found that the chocolate pot de cremes I’ve tried have been a bit too heavy for my liking, but I will definitely try butterscotch. Gjelina is my fav restaurant, FYI!
