Buried Treasures
October 13th, 2009
I love the energy at flea markets. There’s such promise as you walk through aisles of antique finds with the hope of uncovering new treasures. With a massive coffee in hand, I made the trek out to Pasadena last Sunday and came home with a faux fur vest (which I had to throw on immediately as seen below), a retro phone for my desk and a plaid Western shirt. Here are some of my favorite images from my trip.
How pretty is the petal pink lining of this vintage suitcase?
I fell in love with all of these colorfully oversized glasses.
After a long day of thrifting, a hot dog is a must.
Ornate brooches in sparkling crystals.
Rows of rugged boots that are perfect for colder months.

lovely! Where exactly is the flea market, and is it open every sunday?
Oooh I’m never good at finding stuff at flea markets. Maybe I just need to find someone as good as you to accompany me and show me the cool stuffs!
I’m a bit of a suitcase fanatic! Love it! Love the idea of a big coffee, too … off to make some!
LOVE THIS. ahhh I’m in dire need of some flea market therapy. funny enough, I’ve been craving a fur vest just like that one!

Really pretty pictures! I don’t mind having such a suitcase. Why isn’t there such a thing where I live? Love it.
nothing like a good chili cheese dog!!
LOVE your watch! Where did you get it?
I heart the vintage suitcase!!!! This year I have started collecting them… not much of a collection yet – just two and a lovely old hat box. They make great display features in my bedroom.
I love that suitcase… in fact: I am now scouring the internet to find one. It’s adorable. Great finds: hot vest!
amazing. I love these fleas too. that vest is amazing. My hubs recently bought me a similar one at a street antique fair:) I’m obsessed with the thrift shops in my neighborhood and in fact took a photo like yours of a box (not quite a beautifully lined suitcase like this one) full of old photos. I started thinking about the people in the photographs and I wondered how they arrived at that thrift shop. it’s so curious, no?
great shots!
and mmmmm hot dogs are always yum.
That is my idea of fun!! Here’s to hoping I get a Sunday off soon and it coincides with the flea market.

This is what I expect and want when I go to vintage stores in England. What I find is nowhere near this brilliant. I want to go to Pasadena flea market now!!
I live in Philly and we just don’t have flea markets like this. I wish we did, it looks amazing!!
Where is that flea market at? I’ve been dying to go to a good one.
The excess of boots in that last photo makes my heart flutter.
