Blue Jean Baby
You would think that since I majored in Media Studies, I wouldn’t be tempted by movies like “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.” This is not the case. Luckily, my best friend shares the same affinity for girl bonding movies and she’s agreed to accompany me tonight for some popcorn and unrealistic story lines. The notion that these four friends can all squeeze into the same pair of jeans truly behooves me considering my Citizens of Humanity certainly don’t have the same kind of stretch. Since I don’t plan on sharing my denim, I’ve found three pairs that fit my criteria for Fall: high-waisted and flared, skinny and dark and loose and distressed.
Grey Ant’s high-waisted Welt Jean has a sophisticated silhouette that more closely resembles a pair of trousers. The slightly flared legs are sure to make any one’s thighs appear smaller by comparison and the fitted waist makes for the perfect canvas to tuck inflowy blouses. Just hold the braids in your hair and fringed bags so you don’t look too Flower Child.
When skinny jeans first emerged back on the scene a few years back, I was reluctant to try this unforgiving style due to my rather curvy legs. It wasn’t until a stylish friend suggested I look at them more as a pair of comfy leggings instead of like any regular denim. Since then, I’ve been hooked, and J Brand’s 10″ Ankle Skinny Stretch Jean is far and away the best out there. Whether worn with comfy flats on the weekend, sexy pumps at night or tucked neatly into riding boots, they’re amazingly versatile and surprisingly comfortable.
Since my boyfriend would probably be creeped out if he found me in a pair of his jeans, Gap’s Long and Lean Jeans are a fantastic alternative. With gentle distressing at the top and a slim, relaxed fit, I know I’d have a hard time tearing myself out of these. Additionally, for those of you anxious about recreating Katie’s new look, these would most definitely suffice.

I’ve been wanting to try skinny jeans and those definitely look like a good pair. I think I might give them a try.
hi love!
enjoy the movie. WE have to wait ages for some movies to get here… that being one of them.
I secretly enjoyed the first one though…
I definately would go for # 1. I love me a high-waisted, dark denim. SO perfect with sky-high heels.
I love the top pair, I was hesitant for the style at first, but I have super long, chicken legs and I think the style really suits me. I have found that the silky Trouser pant from the Gap is a great, dressier take on the style. I love the ones you posted though, I am checking them out right now!

oh, now you have me singing tiny dancer!
cute jeans. xo
Hmmmmm. I was kind of hoping we could keep the somewhat embarrassing movie date on the DL. However, I will forgive you because I LOVE that first pair of jeans. Yes, you knew I would pick the ones with the widest legs.
P.S. Can’t wait to see you (and America Ferrera)!
Did you see America Ferrera in that amazing DVF dress at the Alma Awards? She looked so classy. Speaking of classy, i love Katie’s new rolled-leg jean look. I’m already shamelessly copying her!!
just curious… have you tried the hudson skinnies? i used to hate them until i tried hudsons. now i wear ‘em at least once a week!
I’ve always been hesitant about wide leg jeans. Maybe it’s because I’m really really short (5’1″ish), but I think when people are tall enough, like you, I’m sure you would pull them off beautifully!
i think you and i might be twins
how i do love skinny jeans
and those ones that you picked out are absolutely fab!! i agree that dark washes are best. i guess i’m a little scatter-brained because i usually by skinny jeans a little long in the leg and then do the “katie-wrap” to the ends of them. i just can’t stand jeans that are wide-legged all the way down!
Hi there-fabulous choices as usual from you!! I do love the 1st and 2nd ones best, although I don’t have J brand, I’ve heard only good things about them!
I am a skinny jeans kind of girl. I have way too many pairs but I can’t stop buying them. I love the grey ant high waisted but high waisted + wide legs make me look like a two foot stump. haha. I’m jealous of anyone that can pull those off.
PLEASE tell me those skinnies stretch! I, too, am well endowed in the leg-area and I really am pressed to find an ankle-length skinny jean that won’t cut off my circulation.
I’m really excited to watch the Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants sequel! I’m a huge fan of Alexis Bledel and America Ferrera so I think I’m really gunna enjoy this movie!
The first pair is definitely my favourite – it’s got a great shape and I love the really dark shade.
Also, I’m running a Labor Day promotion on my blog that will begin in a few days. You can get a 15% discount at a great, affordable online store – check it out!
Thank you! I have been looking for the perfect skinny jean, I will check out J Brand…
Ooh…I love all your denim picks. It was a while before I was convinced by the skinny jean as well, but I was amazed by what a pair of dark skinnies and heels can do for your legs.

haha! I sold 2 pairs of thsoe jeans on the bottom today!
I loove the first pair though, they look so nice and tailored!
Princess Poochie pegged her Gap Long & Leans and they looked great!
loving the last pair!!
Oh the welt jeans, how I adore them.
Unfortunately I am resigned to not buying any normal clothing while I’m pregnant, just maternity gear (and even the so called maternity chic stuff IS NOT CHIC) which makes me look a tonne more pregnant than I actually am.
Oh and on the topic of going to movies that you know better than to see, I got dragged to Baby Mama yesterday. My ditzy friend thinks it’s the best movie of the year. I am still trying not to vomit up popcorn.
all my best friends have different figures. but, i do share with my savvy sister, twice the wardrobe, twice and bags. : )
bf wouldn’t be happy if i were to take his jeans, i can’t anyway, i am a whole head shorter than him…. i will just use my super high heel jeans.
Oh man that movie was honestly horrible to me! I love those girls, but that movie was unrealistic and at times superficial. The first one was way better. I can’t believe my friends convinced me to pay $9 to see that! haha.
I think I have 6 or 7 skinny jeans (in The NL they are a huuuge hit, and as soon everyone is wearing them, I don’t like them anymore, I always give up on trends as soon as they are getting big), and I soooo want high waisted flared ones, they are definitely on 1 on my fall wishlist, the only problem is I don’t fit in the ‘grown up’ sizes, not even in the ones for teens. That sucks, but I hope ZARA can help me out, because their childrens collection is always fab and exactly what I need.
I love, love, love, skinny jeans. And those J Brand ones are just hot! I want them, Now. Must. Go. Get.
the skinny jeans look great on that model. But at the moment I prefer the high-waisted wided leg jeans
Great selection especially the bottom two pairs.
I looove that last pair!
The first pair you picked blew my mind away. Those jeans are perfection.
jeans glorious jeans,a girl can never have too many.x

Have been trying to wrap my mind around wide-leg jeans, but I can hear/feel the demin rustling and driving me mad!
I’ll watch anything with a group of girls, and this is most definitely on my list of movies to see. My vote goes to the top pair, but the skinny ones with boots would be cute with a cozy sweater. Happy shopping, and yes! I’d love to swop links!
You’ve found all the best examples of all the best looks.
omg a couple years ago I stole the book from the sister and read it! hahahaha i think women will always teenybopper book interesting! i wish i still had my collection of sweet valley!
