Cupcakes and Cashmere

BHLDN

February 10th, 2011

{Cutest invite ever. Inside the box was a tiny note with a magnifying glass}

Yesterday I had the pleasure of viewing Anthropologie’s new bridal line, BHLDN (which officially launches on Valentine’s Day). It was such a romantic afternoon; filled with champagne and sweet treats, with lots of dresses, shoes and accessories. BHLDN (pronounced “beholden”) fills an untapped niche with great party pieces at reasonable prices. It stays true to the Anthropologie aesthetic, with vintage appeal and beautiful detailing, but feels even more special. I know firsthand, since I tried on my first wedding dress, and it was as surreal and thrilling as I had always imagined (and yes, I did well up just a little bit).

{View as we entered the bed & breakfast: cocktail dresses + champagne}

{Some of my favorite wedding gowns}

{Cupcakes topped with flags and a “Just Married” serving spoon}

{Playing dress-up with Joy and Joanna}

{Macarons and “Bride” and “Groom” engraved forks}

{I loved the sheer fabric and ruching on this red party dress}

  11. Love these dresses and cant wait to try some on myself I am getting married in Half Moon Bay in October and could totally see myself in the dress you have on, Emily (altho i do fear strapless- how do I avoid tugging it up all wedding long?) Do you know if they will be carrying the dresses in their stores? How can I get my hands on them?

    I know you said you wouldn’t turn Cupcakes and Cashmere into a wedding blog, but I do hope you’ll keep us updated every so often! : ) So exciting!

  19. The pie server and the forks look like Tunkables, made in Maine.
    You look beautiful in all of the dresses! Fun.

  20. I rarely ever comment on fashion blogs, but this post was just too good to pass up! BHLDN is an absolute fairy tale come true: feminine, romantic, with just the right amount of mystery. How lucky you are to have been invited to preview the collection! I have to agree with lauren above me, please please continue to update us on the wedding planning process! Congratulations and good luck!

  24. I can’t WAIT for this to drop. I’m getting married next year and sadly for me, HATE most wedding dresses. Here’s hoping Anthro is going to offer some really unique, non-wedding wedding dresses.

  25. The nude dress is gorgeous. Looks fab on you!

  26. I absolutely adore the cherry pink colour of the party dress. It’s exactly what’s needed to brighten up my wardrobe this spring. And the fact that it’s such a delicate, sheer fabric makes it ten times better!

  27. that invitation is so clever and cute! looks like such a fun event, and i’m going to need that red dress now. thanks.

  29. I love that they have an official line. My friend picked out dresses for her October wedding and it wasn’t from this line, but it’s still a great dress.

  30. I went to look round their headquarters last thursday in Philly and it was gorgeous I was so impressed! We had a mooch in their new bridal part but unfortunately weren’t allowed to see any of the dresses, but thanks to you now I can! Their offices were in the most amazing ex navy spaces and everyone there was so lovely. I loved the whole ‘bring you dog to work’ thing! The dresses look beautiful thanks for putting them up!

  35. Hi Emily,
    This is my first comment to your blog, though I’ve been reading it for a while, it’s really wonderful.
    I was thinking of things that will go along with your theme, and this is what I came up with:
