Beverly Hills That’s Where I Want To Be
November 19th, 2009
Vintage Blazer, Zara Top, Levi Cut-offs, Foley + Corrina Bag, Hue Tights, Fendi Platforms
The vibe in Beverly Hills is so formal, with women and their coordinated accessories, tiny dogs and stiff up-dos, that I can’t help but add a bit of grunge to Rodeo Drive. I rarely wear shorts, but when it comes to vintage Levi’s, I fully embrace their rugged vibe that never goes out of style. Plus, when worn with a boxy blazer and thick tights, they’re instantly fall-appropriate.

LOVE IT!
I keep noticing how long your hair has been getting – it’s gorgeous, Em!
Sorry for the second comment on the same post but I linked your site to my post today because I totally ended up changing after I saw your outfit–hope you don’t mind and just wanted to let you know. : )
I love the blazer! How do people have such luck with vintage blazers?! I feel like all the cool gals in the blogosphere have at least one!
You look stunning! I really love your shoes
I can’t breath bc of your shoes. dying over them.
loving the tights with the shorts look! you look fabulous

I have been a faithful (silent) follower of your blog for some time now and I love dang near EVERYTHING you wear (I love pretty much every post!!)…but I had to write for the very first time to say that those shorts really don’t anything for you, they don’t do anything for anyone really. You should consider tossing them, they scream “trash” no matter how much anyone tries to dress them up.
Keep up the fabulousness that you are though, you exude so much confidence!
cute look, you look beautiful
Clothes Are Cute
love the shorts! The outfit came together great! I love the purse too!
I think you look lovely, but the look is hardly inspired.
very chic!

I really really love this outfit, especially the combination of the blazer and the wedges.
I see you have some haters in the mix!! Miss Emily, you ALWAYS look amazing. I love reading your blog thanks so much for taking the time to share! xoxo
The whole outfit is great, and I esp. love those shoes!! – Natalya of Wear Necessities
I don’t think the people who aren’t loving this outfit is necessary a ‘hater’ they are just stating that they’re not a big fan of it. People are allowed to have opinions and they are allowed to state them if the blogger is allowing his/her readers to do so. Nothing wrong with it. I, too, think the shorts are hideous and they cut into to the crotch area a bit too much almost like it’s too small or something. Everything else about the outfit is gorgeous though
Wow, just the right grunge-chic balance!
I wish I could wear this kind of outfit in D.C right now.! Love those Fendi’s. They were at Neiman’s Last Call last week, so so cute on!
Fun outfit… but eek… shorts a bit too high… and creeping up front….yikes! Nice photography however, always.
When I found your blog months ago, I read every single post back to the first one because I finally found my favorite blog and inspiration. But I have to be honest, I don’t like those shorts. I think shorts would look fine but maybe a dressier fabric. Everything else looks fantastic though!
Love everything except for the hideous mom jean shorts. The first thing I noticed was a fashion “don’t” when I saw camel toe..lol…
love the shorts and opaque tights!

You are an inspiration for creativity and fun in the wardrobe dept. Commenter #5 (Liz) If you are tired of looking, then don’t for the love of god.
This is one of the cutest outfits ever! Adorable! I love the shoes
Love, love, LOVE those shoes! They remind me of the finale scene in All That Jazz, one of my favorite movies.

Usually love love love the looks, but this would stand out on Rodeo Drive for obvious reasons–in the same manner that Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman” did (pre-transformation). AKA still appearing a bit “hooker-ish.” I’m sorry! Again–usually love the looks, just not at all a fan of this one :-/
Love your outfit, you look gorgeous!
Stunning!! Outfit perfection

Hi Em –
All above comments about the outfit aside… It just occured to em to ask “Who takes your photos?” Because they are very well done. I must know! =D
(Ok one comment about the outfit… If the jean shorts make you feel great. Rock ‘em. If YOU feel like a million bucks in an outfit, chances are no one is really noticing the outfit anyhow. They’ll be noticing you.)
Ha!
TYPO – “…occured to ME to ask”
Grunge? Wow, do people in LA still refer to their style by that name? Time for some new photo poses too.
really nice
Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. Such a classic outfit done so well. You have to share your hair secrets with us!!

Her boyfriend takes all the pictures. I remember her mentioning it in an earlier post where she answered questions asked in the comments. I agree though, they are always so well done!

I love your blog but just a question.. why do you dye your hair blond? just wondering because I think you would look gorgeous if you let your natural hair color grow out!
i love your style and i LOVE the blazer and the shoes but those jeans are just not cute:/ i think you need a better fitting pair of denim cutoffs without the pockets showing.
I’m loving this outfit!
aint it so! Beverly hills is so weird sometimes…anyhow..LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR SHOES!!!
You look super cute and you look like you’re loving it so even better!
Love the Fendis!!
I love all that you wear, but not crazy about these shorts….i think they are a TAD BIT TOO HIGH….besides that you are super cute as always.

blazers + shorts + tights = foolproof outfit!
Your hair is always PERFECT. And this look is pretty, but the shorts must not be a kind of boyfriend one’s? I though they are very close fitting… Your “parts” are appearing…
LOVE that shirt – where is it from??
