Bed and Breakfast (and Wine)

pr.jpg

Later today my boyfriend and I are packing our bags (I’m bringing my Alexander McQueen suitcase) and heading out to Paso Robles, a little town in the central coastal wine region.  Neither of us have ever been before and since we weren’t together on Valentine’s Day, we’re spending the weekend at a rustic bed and breakfast.   I’m looking forward to a few days of wine tasting, elegant California cuisine and Scrabble by the fireplace.

oooh! I absolutely ADORE the Central Coast. We went last spring and I kept a Yelp list of reviews on some absolute favorite places. I also went to Nepenthe from Paso.
Here is my list of places we hit when we are in Paso. Can’t wait to hear what you think of Paso! http://www.yelp.com/list/central-coast-cayucos-2

Paso is incredible! Much more laid back than the northern wine region. The Central coast is the way to go! I have been wine tasting in PR twice and both times were wonderful! FYI-There is an AMAZING Thai food restaurant in downtown PR (near the highway). It’s a must!

34 smrithi rao { 02.26.10 at 8:47 am }

36 Chessa! { 02.26.10 at 8:54 am }

This sounds like a delightful weekend! Wine and fireplaces and long drives…yay! I hope you enjoy:)

and ps–yes! It is VERY difficult for me to choose which images to frame…more difficult even to decide which ones to print and put in an album. That’s my one complaint about digital photography…I take so many and then they end up sitting on my external hard drive or stored online – I still haven’t put together the images from that trip to Italy. I want to do it before the baby comes or it will never get done! thank you so much for your sweet comments about the photos:) happy weekend! x

37 Target-Addict { 02.26.10 at 9:01 am }

I adore Paso, and I’m sure you’ll have a great time :-)
I realize you already have a place to stay, but you might want to check out Wild Coyote while you’re there; they have wine tasting, and you can check out their guest rooms for a future visit. Very different than the other lodging in Paso; this place is done up in a rustic, southwestern theme (http://www.wildcoyote.biz/).

38 Patti { 02.26.10 at 9:08 am }

Can’t wait to see pics! I love wine tasting in the Central Coast. It’s beautiful and the wines are excellent. Have fun!

39 Taylor { 02.26.10 at 9:12 am }

Have fun! My bf and I go there all the time for wine tasting. We went to college at Cal Poly SLO and his parents live in Paso.
Some of our favs (and we still have many to try) are:
Eberle, Pianetta (downtown Paso), Tobin James (fun saloon), Sextant (SLO), Tablas Creek.

Have fun! xo

63 World In A Paper Cup { 02.26.10 at 12:51 pm }

I grew up on the Central Coast, Paso is so beautiful. If you can, go to Vivant Fine Cheeses on 11th street, the owner is so friendly and will let you sample like 10 cheeses if you want. Robert Hall, Castoro, and Bianchi are my favorite wineries. There is a great restaurant in Paso called Thomas Hill Organics Bistro and Wine Bar, all farm fresh food and delicious! Have so much fun! Sweetie…Paso Robles is fantastic (I work in the Paso Robles wine industry). Be sure to check out http://www.pasowine.com for info on all the different, fabulous wineries. A few industry fav’s: Summerwood, Linne Calodo, Edward Sellers, Lone Madrone, Denner, Jada, Halter Ranch – also be sure to check out the new winery going up on 46 West on a property called Heart Hill – this new winery spot has a gigantic heart shaped oak grove that is to die for (and so incredibly romantic): http://www.ninerwine.com. To eat: Artisan, Villa Creek, Pier 46 Seafood, Bistro Laurent and my personal fav The Range in Santa Margarita. Also check out We Olive and Vivant Fine Cheese in downtown Paso Robles. Enjoy Paso Robles Wine Country darling!
