Back to Black

Since I share a relatively small closet with my boyfriend, excuses are often made for why I “need” certain things.  I can get pretty creative when it comes to these reasons, but in regards to black dresses, no explanation is necessary.   They’re such a wardrobe essential and I’m crazy for all of the structural elements from this season (especially when paired with embellished tights like the ones here).  These are a few of my favorite LBDs that are anything but boring.

1. Topshop, $80
2. Elizabeth & James, $495
3. ABS, $196
4. See by Chloe, $555
5. Forever 21, $22.80
6. Alice + Olive, $365

Will you be embracing this trend?  If so, which is your favorite?

The Elizabeth and James and the See by Chloe are my favorites, but sadly I have no budget for them. I understand sharing the closet with a bf…we moved in together 3 months ago and he is still in shock over how much room I need

The topshop dress is the best, hands down.

I have stared at the Topshop and Forever 21 dresses for longer than I care to admit. The F21 was out of my size when I first saw it a few days ago.

Did you get any of these listed?

Ouch. I love number 4, which also happens to be the one most out of my price range!

UGH, I have been on a never-ending quest to find a perfect LBD, and nothing works. I guess I am too damn picky. I am liking #5 though, I should try it next time I am at F21.

    I want 4 & 5!

I am the biggest fan of the LBD…in fact, I hardly have any more BDs that aren’t B. I am crazy about #1. I think with a great pair of heels I could feel ridiculously sexy in that!

Of course my favorite is #4 because of course, it is the most expensive of the lot. Champagne taste, Prosecco budget.

i LOVE the TopShop one! (and practically EVERYTHING TopShop) I’d be concerned that the shoulders would make me look a little Kim Kardashian-esque in her latest (goth) photoshoot.
Can’t go wrong with Elizabeth and James though. Or F21.

Oh I really must have that fabulous Elizabeth & James number!

  • http://playlosangeles.blogspot.com/ Sweetshelle

Of course the one I love (#2) is one of the most expensive ones! And I really need a black dress for work at the Emmy red carpet. But my work only gives us a dress allowance of $75 :(

#1 and #5! I guess I have cheap taste since I choose the 2 least expensive ones! haha

Ooh, I love the Elizabeth and James one (typical), and #5 is sex in a dress. Sadly, padded shoulders fall under “things that make me look stupid,” but I’m sure the trend will look great on you :)

Btw, I just did a post on LBD’s last week! Check it out here:http://keepcalmandcarryonblog.com/2009/08/black-magic/

The See by Chloe dress you’ve featured is positively stunning! I can just imagine it paired with funky tights and rugged boots … Adorable!

#1 by Topshop! It’s so chic and definitely Balmain inspired with the shoulders. For those who can’t afford Balmain, like me!, the Topshop one will definitely suffice

I own number 5 and was so pleased not only with the price but with the fit. It is so comfortable, yet it looks like it was tailored specifically for your body!
