Baby, It’s Cold Inside
Dear Anthropologie,
I’m positively smitten with your latest catalog. I’m not even a fan of snow, but the images of that house filled with powdery goodness made me actually consider buying some of that fake stuff sold by creepy guys at the mall. Perhaps they only sell faux snow in California?
I digress.
The little lace tops, glittery party dresses and chunky knits are some of the best I’ve seen, and though your online gift guide for others is helpful, I’d be fine taking it all for myself.
Yours truly,
Emily
P.S. For those of you that live in cold climates and don’t believe me, you really can buy fake snow here.

Fake snow is everywhere in Japan! Apparently they are going to shoot it out of some contraption on Christmas Day! But, I would rather be in the fake snow at Anthropologie, I admit.
Oh yes, this catalog is beyond dreamy!
Those are lovely, but what a mess to clean up

Ooh, so pretty. I live in London so hopefully we’ll see it this year. I always think of the scene in Bridget Jones Diary when she and Colin get together at the end when I think of London and fake snow! So that’ll do if it fails to deliver this year.
i love that berry-colored dress! (and who wants snow when you can’t ski on it?

thought it was you at first in top photo…LOVE the sweater coat.
I loved this catalog. The stylizing was wonderful.
I try not to visit Anthropologie website too often as it’s so tempting…

Those pictures are beyond dreamy!!!! wow!

i can’t put the catalogue down! too bad i’m in nh, where we actually get heaps of snow . . . and pretty dresses equal freezing nights!
oh wow, beautiful! there’s an anthropologie in london now but i haven’t been yet.
lovely! i adore the first dress and can definitely see you wearing it. the fake snow doesn’t look so fun to me - like abby, i live in new england where we actually get snow, thus reducing it’s appeal.
i love anthropologie! thank goodness the opened one by my house a year ago… although it’s also a bad thing because when ever I have a free day I always find myself there!

in loveeee with anthro BUT.. imagine how annoying it’d be to clean all that snow up when you’re done having fun! :[
love Anthro-the holiday window displays are breathtaking!
This is fantastic! My region used to get at least one good snowfall a year, but we haven’t seen that happen in about 10 years (darn climate change). Now we have to drive a couple of hours north or to the mountains to see it. So to me, snow is romantic. Off to the Anthro site now to request a catalog…
Yes, we just recently got 2 Anthrolpologie stores in Toronto! I’ve got my eye on a coat with a pencil illustration of Havana AND a pair of tan riding boots!! I’m a fan…of your blog, too!

Reminds me of that Spice Girl Video, the one where they are all sad because Gerry left. Not gonna lie, it made me cry the first time. As a Canadian all I can say is GROSS! I would never ever even touch fake snow, disgusting. I don’t even like real snow except for Christmas morning, then I expect it. The thought of vaccuming around this stuff and little critters getting stuck in it…think about it.
Signed.. Buzz Killington
i thought at first that that was you in the first picture!
while the pictures are beautiful…i do recoil a bit at the sight of fake snow. there’s nothing lovelier than the real stuff {well at least nothing lovelier when you’re wrapped in blanket, sipping a cup of tea, looking at the snow through the window. i don’t love trekking through it} couldn’t antrhopologie spring for a photo shoot with real snow?
oooo the images are so lovely

these are gorgeous. I am not a fan of snow either, fake is much better:)
ha! if only i could sport a dress like the last one and not freeze! really beautiful pictures.
Those Anthro stylists really do know what they’re doing …
I agree, I saved pretty much every single image from the catalog. And the clothes are beautiful, but it really more about how they captured that (fake) snowy atmosphere

that last photo especially i love. it really is breathtaking…. all that snow. now if only the real stuff wasn’t so wet and cold– my oh my how i’d love that.
It’s backwards here in Montreal! Plenty of real snow (well, not yet) and sadly no Anthropologie!

funny. my friend started a tweet about this catalogue yesterday with “Dear Anthropologie” too… because don’t we all feel like Anthro is just a groovy, hip friend? She single-handedly decked out my entire kitchen; so, Thanks, Anthropologie!
Anthro totally owns me — they ALWAYS hit the nail on the head with the clothes, accessories & housewares.
LOVE!

Anthro always gets me to pull out my credit card! I’ll pass on the fake snow, though…
Love these catalog photos. So cozy.
Check out my Fendi heels at http://www.fashionsnag.com!
Oh wow, I love the new catalog. Makes me want to live were it snows!
The first pic was my fave outfit from this catalog too! Anthro could seriously just take direct deposit from my check for all the wintry goodness I want!
Alright, I have to agree. As much as I say I HATE winters here in the Midwest, there is something magical about that first blizzard.
Be careful what you wish for!! I would rather have to buy fake snow from greepy dudes at the mall then have to live through 3+months of minus 10 degree weather and daily snow up here in London Ontario! I would give anything to have LA weather year round
Gorgeous catalog. Love the lace and sparkles too! AND we have real snow here in the winter and my mom still buys fake snow for inside the house! ha ha.

Your critical eye catches a wave before it crests or maybe a flake before it falls; but what makes it all so fun is your insight and humor. Nice post.
love those images! gorgeous pieces!
I completely agree! I was going to blog about this catalog too. As soon as I opened it I wanted to go christmas shopping and to holiday parties.
Ahhhh Anthropologie– we’ve had such a strange relationship. At first, I was all love-hate about you, then I decided to love you, then hate you– now it’s back to the pendulum of love. Have you seen that documentary about the man who does the design of the stores? He gets to travel around the world to give the stores that eccentric touch. What a lucky man! xx D
you are too cute. my favorite photo is the first. : )
That green dress is so pretty, Carrie Underwood wore it here http://outfitidentifier.com/?p=16477
Loving these photographs - I am such a slave to Anthropologie. Everything they offer is pure heaven. And fake snow! Ooh, wouldn’t it be the most romantic gesture for a cute boy to surprise you with fake snow?!
oh Emily, I know. The catalog is on my coffee table right now. I pretty much look through it daily for outfit inspiration. Have you been inside one of their stores lately? Most have them have these absolutely glorious recycled paper displays that makes it look like an ice cave of some sort. and the little lace top is perfection in my opinion.
loving that last photo.

couldn’t agree more. that catalog moves with me from room to room, it’s just too pretty to leave all by it’s lonesome.
I totally agree with you. I am not a huge fan of snow, but this is so romantic and dreamy! Anthropologie has the best catalogs and the clothes are darling. I use to work there one day a week for the discount! I hope it is ok, I used a photo of you in my post today for great fall style.
yep. these pictures are amazing.

ahhh i love it
makes me think of a winter wonderland…and makes me excited for christmas
love the last photo especially
i scrolled through your pictures fairly quickly because I’m still waiting for my anthropologie catalog to come via mail! I love getting the catalogue and the way they put they layer their pieces is always amazing!
Anthropologie will be sending you free shit in 3…2…1….
Totally gorgeous - exactly why I love that store. Now if only I could afford it.
LOL at Jennifer ^^ above. She’s right, you know!
I have never seen fake snow being sold here… in Canada… where we have enough of it in the winter…
We have spray snow!
I’m obsessed with that first look!
http://krameymartin.blogspot.com/2009/10/things-im-loving-today.html
Love Anthro! It’s definitely my favorite store!
Are you going to go for the fake snow?? Lol…;)
For the past few years the county creates snow so the kids can play in it!
I live along the coast of South Carolina so I’m like…snow?! What’s that?
I’ve always been curious about that fake snow, but you’re right - the guys who sell it are always really scary. Why is that?
I live in houston and we have creepy guys that sell fake snow too! haha but it is so much fun i love it and love the pics from the catalog, so pretty! cant wait for christmas!
I am so with you on the Anthro Catalog and the fake snow, so precious! Also love the styling in the new J Crew Catalog. I could live inside an Anthro or J Crew Catalog:)

I am in LOVE with that last dress….hello, Narnia….I’m paying you a visit!!
A. Buying fake snow is hilarious to a girl who grew up in Wisconsin.
B. This catalog (and just about everything in the Anthro store right now) is brilliant.
I got the catalog a couple of weeks ago and I fell in love with it all too! The clothes are beautiful! I usually am not a huge anthro clothes fan either, but this time…dear santa!
Ive only ever seen fake snow in store displays. I would totally buy some and fill my house with it! Well, maybe not fill…Anyway, those images are lovely. Thanks for sharing!
The pictures are beautiful. I love snow. Of course, as someone who doesn’t actually get snow, that’s easy for me to say. I wish I could have snow just for the month of December. =)
so pretty!!! we have terrible winters in toronto and i must say i would much prefer fake snow!
i featured your red lips on my blog yesterday! i tried to email you but it wasn’t working for some reason.

How marvelous! I’m loving your letter to Anthro, lady.
Come visit me sometime! Cheers.
They always have the best catalogs. Their photos make everyone feel so “at home” every time.

awesome!!!
I am so with you on this. This was one of my favorite anthro catalogs I’ve ever seen. I loved the vibe and how everything was styled and it made me want to buy, buy, buy. I think they achieved their goal!
i just might have to get some of that fake snow for some upcoming parties!
Hey Emily! I thought that was you in the first photo too before I realized I had seen it somewhere already. I’m a huge Anthro. lover. I was just there about 4 days ago and boy was it good timing. They had new markdowns and I scooped some great stuff. I got this dress that I knew was gone from everywhere (and sold out online in my size) for $40! It was originally $168! Ugh! I love it!
http://www.Stylelustpages.com. Chk it out!
Oh my god! These images are amazing! =D

Fake snow is sadly everywhere….in London at least. Every year I get trapped in Selfridges by the same guy who tries to force me to buy it! We never see proper snow till Feburary!
The window displays are to die for as well!!! this catalog was awesome and omg the sweaters! They look so warm and beautiful! I want to buy them all!
I fully thought this was you in the top photo!
Ahh this was one of my favorite Anthro catalogs! Why can’t I live inside their catalogs??
we adore Anthro…the creativity behind those pages…it’s amazing. Jealous? hell, yes.
I love this! The J.Crew winter catalog is great too, full of great real snow landscapes with fantastic outfits.
Beautiful! After much anticipation, Anthropologie has finally come to Regent Street, London. Gorgeous stuff, but I hear that the prices are higher than in the USA.
Love me some Anthropologie!!
I’m obsessed with their new catalog as well! I was really excited when it came in the mail. And strangely enough, you can buy fake snow here in Minnesota as well! I don’t want anything to do with it, fake or real but if I had to chose, it would be the faux flakes for a fairytale style decor! It DOES feel like Narnia!
