Asparagus Gruyere Tart
I’m ashamed to admit that I can go weeks without incorporating a single vegetable into my diet. It’s not that I don’t appreciate a handful of sugar snap peas in the summer or roasted eggplant in the winter, but it’s rarely something I crave or think to make on my own. Martha Stewart’s Asparagus Gruyere Tart has changed my mind entirely with its flaky crust, gooey cheese and perfectly crisp asparagus. It’s not exactly health food, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction.

Hi Emily.
Love love love your blog!!! I really like how you post recipes + outfits + weekend getaways – a really good range of posts. So cool that you have been able to make it your full time job! I wondered why you hadn’t spoken about work in a long time. Perhaps you could do a post on some of your daily routines – I always find that stuff really interesting and so do other people – one of my favourite newspapers has an article every week about a day in the life of…starting from what time they get up/what they eat for breakfast right through their day. Its the little intricasies that really shape people I think. Anyway just a thought. Kendall xxx

Hahaha! You’re hilarious. I love that it takes filo dough and delicious cheese to get you to eat vegetables. I can only imagine what great lengths your mother had to go to when you were growing up! : ) It looks just like Marthas’s! ps: I’ve been loving that top dish towel- where is it from?
For me, it’s always hard to eat the vegetables before they go bad!
you should become a food fotograph!
So amazing! I’m trying this asap!
These photographs are so lovely and I’ll definitely be trying this recipe… thanks.
this tart looks so tasty! As far as i’m concerned, if there’s healthy helping of green in the dish and its not lettuce, it IS healthfood.
and i totally agree with you on the whole going weeks without veggies, but i’ve gotten better. i put spinach in my eggs and i love to make quiche.
Oh, it looks melt-in-your-mouth marvelous!
Yyyyyyum. That does look delicious. I may or may not need to try this! Xx

Love when you mix in the cooking, and your photography is perfection. Asparagus and gruyere are two of my favorite things.
Even though my blog is a baby compared to yours, I love to mix things up, too! A true dedication to the quarter-life. Although you’re probably more heavy on the fashion and mine on the food. And can’t forget that we both have cupcakes in the name, of course
I don’t eat much veggies either, sometimes when offered, but i’m really picky…
Would it be all right if I flew you in to cook for me?!
that looks soo unbelievably delicious. i love asparagus. i think it tastes wonderful. i want to eat this right off of the page.
xxoxo

I think this is an absolutely beautiful way to present asparagus! AND I bet if you used lactose free cheese (for the lactose intolerant ones like myself), it can be just as delicious.

We’re going to have to try your recipe over at the French Skinny. Thanks for posting it!! Great photos too.
Yum, yum, yum! If I had only seen this yesterday at the store. I bought a bundle of asparagus to steam w/ our pork tenderloin and sweet potatoes. This looks so tasty!
Don’t feel bad about the veggie thing – trust me if I don’t make a serious effort to think of them – my grocery list is nothing but carbs and sugar!
This looks SO yummy!
Yay food photos! I always love these
Uh, YUM. Made this the other night after seeing it on your blog. So. Good. I can’t wait to try it again with some different combos (roasted grape tomatos, kalamata olives and goat cheese anyone)?, roast chicken and pesto? or maybe a dessert pizza with mascarpone, peaches and honey – the possibilities are endless. Don’t know why I never thought of using puff pastry for pizza before! Thanks for sharing, and for the daily inspiration!

This is so good. I discovered this recipe a few months ago and made it a few times but then forgot all about it. You’ve reminded me of how easy and delicious this is. I’ll be making it this weekend!
[...] 10, 2010 A while back, Cupcakes and Cashmere directed my attention to a luscious sounding treat from Martha Stewart: the asparagus gruyere [...]
Does it really take 20 minutes to cook asparagus? I’ve accidentally over-roasted some in about 5 minutes and made it all gooey.
PLEEEEASE, WHERE IS THE RECIPE???
I love this recipe and often make it. To give it a wow factor, add a poached egg on top as it goes perfectly with the asparagus.
I made this for my boyfriend and he said it was one of the best things I’ve ever made!
