Afternoons in Train Stations

Trina Turk Dress, Rory Beca Skirt (gifted), Handmade Necklaces, Vintage Bracelets, Free People Sunglasses, Coach Bag, Steve Madden Platforms
In college I spent many hours at Union Station (it’s also when I discovered this street) while traveling up and down the Southern California coast. It feels like you’re back in an entirely different era and the architecture alone is worth the trip. This past weekend, after a day spent at museums, we headed over to Union Station to stock up on magazines, buy ice cream sandwiches and people watch. Since the weather was gray and muggy, I wore what’s usually my poolside cover-up and my new tiered skirt in the brightest of pinks.

That train station looks great, almost like a law-firm office’s lobby (or even a hotel lobby). A far cry from the train stations we have where I’m from.

What a neat old building. Places of travel like train stations and air ports are always so fascinating.
I like the way the pink is juxtaposed against the classic architecture
We have a Union station in Toronto as well. I cant tell you how many times I was in and out of that building
Oh gah, I LOVE this!

Perfect color for a muggy day! (I have a yellow and white striped rain coat from Target that always cheers me up on grey days!)
The Union Station in D.C. features the same sort of architecture that makes me feel as if I’m living in the 50s or something…until I see the food court and stores. Yet, for a gleeming moment, I’m in an era I’ll never really get to experience.

I have a love/hate relationship with train stations. I’ve spent far too much time in them during my commuting days when I first graduated college. But, I love going to the big newsstands, picking out my magazines, and grabbing a snack for the ride. It’s the one location I’m ALWAYS on time for, because not having these items—or, worse, getting stuck in a bad seat on the train—is unbearable.
I love the nastagia of train stations. The Union Square here in Denver is pretty cool too. And I would have never known you were wearing a pool cover up. The colors are just beautiful! Thanks for the inspiration.

Oh my goodness, Emily, you look BEAUTIFUL! These vivid colors look amazing on you, and I’m so in love with that skirt. What a fun shape and gorgeous color! Plus, of course, your legs look a million miles long. Positively stunning.

Still one of my all time favorite places in LA, even when it is filled with mumbling, sketchy people. There’s something about the air of anticipation of travel, but without all the horrible airport security.
Emily, you look amazing in pink!! Love your outfit!! Trina Turk is perfect for you, I love her bright and bold dresses.

So fabulous!
The last time I was in Union Station was actually after a day walking around downtown last summer – all the way from Pershing Square to Olvera Street (a friend duped us into thinking it was walkable!). It was super hot and sticky out so I’m amazed how composed you look despite the blazing sun. Lovely as always.
