A New Season

Welcome to Cupcakes and Cashmere! With spring just days away, I thought it would be a good time to begin my first blog, centered around things that I love, and sharing them with other people.
This has always been my favorite time of the year, with brilliant colors in nature infiltrating into clothing, food and an overall electricity in the air. Pablo Neruda captured this perfectly when he wrote, ‘Quiero hacer contigo lo que la primavera hace con los cerezos.’ Translated, this means, ‘I want to do with you what spring does to the cherry trees.’

Hi there, I’m only discovering your blog now and scrolled through to find the very first post you wrote. I love this place, I love your style, your writing, your pictures which always show a cute smile, and will be back very often. Did I mention I’m reading from 10 000miles away, that is… France!
Anyways.. keep up the good job…. xxx.

Emily,
I first read about you in the June/July 2010 Issue of Teen Vogue. I immediately went to my computer and typed in Cupcakes and Cashmere to find myself in such amazement. I have read my fair share of blogs, but yours definitely stood out the most. Everyday after, I have found myself waking up in the morning and checking your website hoping for a new post. I have spent the past 2 days going to previous posts to catch up on everything Ive missed throughout the years, and finally came to your first post. I want to say I love your blog so much, and you have the most amazing style. After reading EVERY SINGLE post, I am a truely a fan of all your hard work and impecable taste. Thank You for all your lovely posts!
xoxo Christine

Your style is just like mine, and you are one f my few role models, when I grow up I hope to be like you, and I hope my bog gets as popular as yours sometime. Thanks for posting!

I just read every blog entry you wrote for over 2 years! I love it, your humor and style of writing always makes my day (and the photography attatched to each post is stunning!) Anyway, I’m so happy to see that this blog has gotten you so far. Thanks for everything!

Love,

Your blog is similar to Sartorialist (and that is a big compliment) now I will be on here daily. Cheers*

Finally caught up on your ENTIRE blog! I can see the growth in your writing and your fashion choices. I have to say though, I’m a little sad that I’m caught up lol. Now what will I read before bed?

Anyway, I hope I’m able to build a readership as vast as yours; you “speak” in such a relatable tone and I can see why you’ve been such a success. Kudos!

I couldn’t agree more! This blog is absolutely adorable, witty, fashion forward and oozing with creativity and style. I truly am obsessed! I adore your style, reminds me of mine… but you really have allowed me to add some unconventional touches to my outfits when they seem to matchy or “put together”! :) Since I was little I knew fashion was the route for me, (but I have been stuck in the legal world for some time)! Im done and ready to start sharing my ideas with a blog of my own! You wanted to share the things you love with the world, and that is truly an inspiration to me and many. So, thanks for the incredible blog and I truly wish you the best! :) God Bless!

Dear Emily,

Just like numerous others, I found myself going through every single one of your entries until finally I found myself where it all began…which is a little sad since I didn’t want it to end!

I love how constant you are throughout your posts, the discreet changes in your posts are smooth and easy for any new readers to cope with should they (as most of us have done) go through every single one of your posts.

You’re an amazing inspiration and I look forward to being an avid reader of your blog from here on after!

Love,
Natsumi

hi Emily! maybe you hear this all the time, but I really enjoy your blog, I can identify with it and I really love all your recipes, because of your blog I made my own blog, in a way you inspired me, so I am new in all this and I wanted to follow you but I do not know how :/

19 Cris { 02.11.11 at 3:22 pm }

It would appear i have had the same thoughts as others – looking back at your first ever blog. It is now 12th feb 2011 and you’re well known and established – the difference in getting 240 commennts per post rather than 2/3. Well done! As a newbie to your site, i am really enjoying reading it and getting inspiration for my new home which is currently in process of refurb.

A fan from across the atlantic!

Hey Emily!

I too just reached your very first post, I’ve been spending my last few classes sitting in the back and reading your blog (I guess I have to pay attention now). Anyway I am studying fashion and I love your style and how I was able to see it grow over the years. I find it so interesting that you used to be a rookie in the kitchen but now you seem like a top chef! If I was technically savvy maybe I would make a blog, but for now I’ll just follow yours! Thanks so much for all the helpful tips!

Love,
Emily

Hello Emily,
As with previous comments, I was curious to see your early posts, specifically your first. I have been visiting your blog for less than a year and each time I do I feel like I am leafing through (or should I say scrolling?) a pretty magazine brimming with style and personality. Very inspiring. Also, cheers to your very own Coach bag!
Looking forward to reading more,
April

Hey Emily!

I just wanted to say that I just discovered your blog a while back and in the past day and a half I have read about 3 years worth of blog posts and am simply amazed at how much you have grown and really found yourself. You really inspire me and I absolutely adore your style and personality.
I think it really speaks for your perseverance that you started out so long ago it seems with only a couple of comments per blog post and now you have hundreds!
Kudos for a job very well done – I think you really deserve the fruits of your blog and congratulations on your Coach bag, I think it’s gorgeous!
You are very unique in every way and although I don’t know if you’ll see this I’ll be sticking around and I look forward to reading more on Cupcakes and Cashmere.

Much love and see you around,
Em

I too like the others scrolled all the way to your first blog to see how you started. I just started a blog too and I don’t feel too bad now that I have zero comments on all my posts—for now I hope.
Nice Blog!

Dear Emily,

Clearly, I’m not alone in this type of comment on your first post, but I have to do it anyways! Your blog is flawless, it is my favorite, and yes like a all the others I’m starting a blog of my own. My boyfriend and I have been building the website and brainstorming all the things we are going to post about. He’s a designer and I’m a communicator so we can only hope our blog melts into something as beautiful as Cupcakes and Cashmere. Getting started is something we just need to jump in and do, but I’m going around to all my blogs and checking how they first took the plunge. You are amazing, thank you for this wonderful inspiration!

Love,

Katie

Hey there Emily… I only discovered Cupcakes and cashmere in September of 2011: Here’s the story:) I was searching on google for cupcake decorating ideas then on the search list popped cupcakes and cashmere …I thought to myself… what an interesting name so I clicked on it, not aware at the time that that click would honestly change the way I live my everyday life. I know that’s kinda a bold statement, to say the least “it changed the way I live my everyday life” My whole entire fashion outlook has changed because of you. I want to say a sincere thank you. You are amazing, flawless, and charming. I can tell you are by your writing( it’s not too serious,it’s rather quirky and fun) and your style sense is absolutlEy great. What I also admire about you is that you’re not fake …you’re so down to earth and a true natural beauty…SO many girls are so fake under 10 tubes of mascara ,a bucket of foundation, and their raccoon eyes they somehow think is pretty well your a natural!! By the way, you once posted that you are an only child …well emily,so am i!!:):)

Emily,

As a newcomer to the fashion blog world I just had to drop a quick note to say how much of an inspiration you are. Now that the fashion blog trend has caught fire it is especially hard to gain an audience because of the amount if other choices. Amongst them all your style and tone of writing makes you so relatable– coming from a small town Midwest college student–that’s tough to do! I just wanted to say that I checked the beginning of your blog to see where you started and give myself some hope that I could grow as a writer and blogger into what I hope someday will be a blog as inspirational and visually appealing as yours (hoping for a Nikon soon!) . You touch so many people with your words and adventures and I hope to do the same someday. Thank you for being one of the firsts. And I can’t wait for all the wedding planning posts!

Sincerely.
Kelsey
