Cupcakes and Cashmere

A Case of the Mondays

September 30th, 2008

I consider myself to be a true morning person. Here are some of the reasons why:

-I’ve never once hit the snooze button
-In fact, I almost rarely sleep with an alarm, and if I do, I’m up before it goes off
-Mornings are when I’m most productive, happy and energetic

…that was until yesterday. My coffee tasted like mud, I forgot to pack my lunch, meetings kept overlapping one after another and before I knew it, I was in desperate need of a nap. Since curling up in a ball under my desk wasn’t exactly appropriate, I found solace in these images of places that would be just right for a quick little cat nap.

All the neutral tones in this cozy living room are ideal for creating a relaxing environment with a great collection of super soft throws and pillows.

There’s something so incredible about falling asleep in the late afternoon sun. I’d love to stretch out on this wide lounger with a light blanket.

Falling asleep in the shade of grape vines seems like such a luxurious way to rest.

I would never choose this decor for my actual bedroom, but I can’t help but imagine the fairy tale-esque dreams I’d have in this girly nook.

I would love a place for a mid-afternoon nap in the sun on the deck. That second picture looks like heaven to me.

This reminds me of a series of images at Getty that a photographer did of people’s beds. You have to see the beds, some of them are truly amazing.

My grandma sleeps in a Chinese Bed (you will see one of those in the pictures) and it is my favorite bed of all time. It’s a work of art.

I could literally fall asleep anywhere. It’s a common trait of a college student. :) But I prefer MY bed to any other. It is the most UNREAL comfy bed. I have a feathertop mattress, down comforter, and 350 thread count sheets in an adorable floral pattern.

Those are all truly lovely nap locales. My ideal spot is in a window seat, cat in lap.

Wow, I envy you. My boyfriend likes to steer clear of me in the morning because I am not a nice person. I do love getting up early on the weekends, but on workdays I do not one bit!

those are some fantastic room shots.. i need you to help me finish decorate my living room.. seriously.
a perfect nap that could be doable would be if we had cool breezy weather and i could lay on our chase in our patio…
btw i’m totally.. not a morning person :(

Hi there-I do love the lounger and hammock on the decking, very nice!!

Wait, you aren’t supposed to curl up under your desk and nap? Even if no one can see you? Darn.
That last bedroom looks absolutely beautiful. If I didn’t have a boy to protest, I would deck out my room in blush pinks.

i love getting up early, when it’s still quiet, and enjoying coffee or hot tea and just relaxing. No TV, no talking, nothing. When it comes to napping, nothing is better than curling up on the sofa with a blanket.

I love the outdoor bed in the second picture. Falling asleep outdoors in the summer feels lovely. And the super girly room is right up my alley, I’ve been dreaming of more pink and purple accents in my apartment lately.

I’m loving the lounger and decking scenario for an afternoon nap.

Ugh. I hate those kinds of days! You created so many different IDEAL napping situations. I love it when you wake up from an afternoon nap with everything cool and crisp outside your cacoon of warmth and comfort :)

yeah …the pink room… the curtains around the bed remind me of a hospital …but I love the pendant lamp

Like your new space by the way!

First of all I’ve got to say – love the new blog look – it’s tres chic just like you.

As for being a morning person, is it possible to be a mid-morning person? I don’t leap out of bed in the morning for sure but I do feel most productive after I’ve had a cup of coffee…usually around 10. Then it’s all downhill from that point on :)

Love the design photos too btw…that deck with the bed? Ahhhhh sweet.

Perfect place to fall asleep? My bed, at home! (home being Montreal)… under my white down comforter. mmm.

And I like the fact that you looked up nice, peaceful images to ease up your rough morning…. i should try that next time!

  • http://fiveblondes.com Micaela

I’m definitely always a morning person at all – today my fiance started trying to get me to get up at 8am, I didn’t roll out of bed until 10! I love sleeping in but I also love the feeling of being really productive early on in the day. I need to start some morning routines to get me going.
Those nap locales all look heavenly to me! Especially the second one – a bed outside? Yes please! Nothing feels more like summer to me than sleeping outside.

  • http://fiveblondes.com Micaela

I meant to say that I’m definitely NOT always a morning person, oopsie!

Each one of those beautiful scenarios is ideal in one way or another.

OR, you could just take a nap in your chair at a meeting. No one would notice.

my ideal place to nap would be on the beach, on a lounge chair under an umbrella, with the sound of the waves and warm, sea breeze…i’m mentally there right now

i love pink but for my room, only neutral cool tone will do since i have relax for the day. i am a morning person too but not before my first cup of coffee.

  • http://deeelightful.blogspot.com D

    Out in the sun!

  • http://www.glammy.blogspot.com Diana Coronado

    J’adore the pink one !!

  • http://www.belle-lumiere.blogspot.com Belowen

I am definately NOT a morning person, quite the opposite of everything you listed actually, lol. My favourite place to nap is out on our back lawn on a big soft blanket in the sun, or in our bed because it’s so comfortable and warm… Mmm.
