Last fall, I really embraced dark, moody colors (as seen here). They seemed to encapsulate the cold weather and short days, but this year, I’m gravitating towards the exact opposite: blindingly bright jewel tones. Whether painted on your nails or worn across your shoulder, it’s a great way to insert a little color into a season otherwise filled with neutrals.

Up until this past week, I had never tried key lime pie. As a lemon meringue enthusiast, I always chose the familiar favorite when given the opportunity. The thing I never realized was that key lime pie has a graham cracker crust, which in my opinion, is far superior. Since everything tastes better in miniature form (e.g. M&Ms minis), I made individual tarts using this recipe. It didn’t call for meringue, but I added it anyway (recipe here) and was so impressed with the results, that I’ve decided it’s my new favorite pie.

J.Crew Dress (worn as top), Skirt, and Belt, Vintage Clutch, Alexander McQueen Pumps, Estee Lauder ‘Enchanted Garnet’ Nail Polish
We’ve been engaged for eight months, but it didn’t feel official until this past weekend. We finally found the perfect venue (in Mill Valley!) and I couldn’t be happier. So many things were put on hold until we found the place (like my dress, the vibe, the little details), so it feels like we’re just now starting the planning process. To celebrate, I threw on an outfit that felt ladylike and festive for a meal that was obviously accompanied by champagne.

{Bourbon Peach Punch – recipe coming soon}
Just as I started to fully prep for fall (I’ve even bookmarked several soups I need to try), summer seems to have arrived in L.A. We’re throwing a little UFC-viewing party, which means we’ll be cranking up the AC, loading up on lots of greasy food, and plenty of cold drinks. Since this past week has been overwhelmingly girly (starting with a lovely bridal shower), it’ll be a nice change of pace.

{A fun discovery after a day by the beach – also #1 on this list}

{Savoring the flavors of summer: tomato, burrata, and basil pizza}

{Best new hair discovery: Oribe’s “Royal Blowout”}

{Favorite combination: Almond-covered Pocky + red wine}
