Roasted Shrimp and Orzo

April 13th, 2011

This pasta salad is a staple during warmer months at our place. It’s easy to throw together and there’s something so appealing about a dish that can be served immediately or eaten cold several hours later. All of the herbs and textures complement each other and I love a good lemon vinaigrette that ties it all together. We serve it embarrassingly often and since it’s enough for a party of six, it’s a great way to ensure you’ll have leftovers for the remainder of the week.

Wine Country

April 12th, 2011

I always forget just how relaxed I am when in Northern California. This past weekend my parents and I drove all around wine country for potential wedding venues and managed to make time for some great meals and champagne tasting along the way. The process of finding the right place is daunting and might take a while, but at least we enjoyed ourselves the whole time.

Bell Bottom Blues

April 11th, 2011

J.Crew Headband and Belt, Urban Outfitters Blouse, Gifted Elizabeth and James Morrison Jeans, Mulberry Bag, Steve Madden Platforms

I received these jeans a few weeks back, but decided to wait until we were a bit further along into spring to pull out my light denim. They’re the perfect hybrid of high-waisted jeans; with a slight bell bottom flair that makes just enough of a statement. Since I lived in broken-in boots and flats this past weekend in Northern California, I welcomed the opportunity to debut these with some of my highest platforms to go out for an early dinner.

Five Things

{Wearing comfortable lounge clothes: cashmere and lace}

I arrived to my parents’ house late last night (after a wonderful dinner at Poggio) and it feels so nice to be here. Somewhere in the past few years though, I stopped feeling like I was going home; even though each room is filled with memories and smells that elicit a sense of comfort found nowhere else. Perhaps it’s because my fiance and I have created a place of our own, with all of the little details that serve as reminders of our lives together. Regardless, I love being here; watching the fog roll in at night, sitting with my dad at the kitchen counter and going for long walks with my mom in the mornings. I’m sure I’ll have plenty of photographs to share from my trip, but in the meantime, here are a few things currently making me happy.
