Collections

April 19th, 2011

The other day I went shopping and came home empty handed. Initially I was frustrated and felt like that past hour and a half was simply a waste of time. When I got home though, I decided to take note of the things I do own and love. Here’s a little glimpse of some of my favorite items* which, among other things, includes my collection of striped sweaters, black heels and pink polishes.

*Though expansive, I decided not to photograph my impressive assortment of various mustards.

Petaled Pink

H&M Blazer, Planet Blue Top, Vince Shorts, Philosophy Platforms, Mulberry Bag

I found this cream-colored blazer a couple of weeks back and completely underestimated its versatility. It’s so sheer that I usually forget it’s on, which is perfect for the hot, yet slightly fickle, L.A. weather. We got to the beach yesterday and within a matter of minutes, the sky had gone from a brilliant blue to a hazed over fog. I was the only one with any semblance of an additional layer, but it still wasn’t enough to fulfill our intentions of eating ice cream by the pier (we opted for coffee in the car instead).

Five Things

{Obsessed with our new stationery via Walnut Paperie}

I think it’s been established that this week was long. And that’s not to say it was bad; mine was filled with evening walks, back-to-back meetings, dinner dates with friends, and lots of productivity. I’m thrilled to have a weekend spent at home though; with balmy weather (last night it was still in the 70s) and just enough down time to recharge for next week.

Tempered Brights

April 14th, 2011

As evidenced by some of my recent outfits (exhibits a, b & c), I’ve been a lot more experimental lately when it comes to wearing brights. For those who are slightly color averse, accessories are a great jumping off point (especially when paired with neutral items like #1 and #7). These are a few of my favorite accent pieces; whether you have bright yellow nails, a patterned head scarf or a candy colored clutch, they’re all perfect for adding a splash of color to an ensemble.
