I have an intense, deep-seated obsession with sandwiches. And I truly don’t discriminate; I’m just as content with peanut butter and jelly on white bread as I am with a turkey club piled high. My main issue is that I fall into ruts when I make them for myself, relying on the same boring flavors time and time again. Instead of the normal mayonnaise/mustard routine, I spiced things up a little yesterday. On one side of a sourdough baguette I spread fig jam, with Brie on the other, and added a few slices of prosciutto and some spicy greens to finish. Each flavor complemented the next and I can’t wait to experiment with even more combinations (next up: Burrata with cherry tomatoes, olive tapenade and sea salt).

I’ve been showing glimpses of our new place for several months now, but left it to Apartment Therapy (one of my favorite sites) to really give you the official tour. Though we’re far from being completely finished, I’ve loved the process of decorating and finding all the little pieces that make our place feel like home. These are a few of my favorite shots from the feature (I’m so glad that I was able to convince both my fiancé and cat to step in front of the camera) and you can see the rest of the photographs and interview here.

Every now and then I come across an item that fulfills all of my clothing fantasies in one. I’ve always had a thing for stripes and I love how the sequins make this sweater a little less nautical and a bit edgier. I had first seen it on the arm of another shopper last week and patiently waited until she decided not to take it home. A bit creepy? Most definitely; but it was well worth the wait since it’s now one of my favorite pieces in my closet.

{Jim’s Philly Cheese Steak with whiz and onions}
This week felt quite fairytale-esque. It started with high tea and ended with an entire day playing dress-up in gorgeous gowns. In order to balance out all of the frilliness, I ended my trip back east with my first Philly Cheese Steak and now I’m entirely obsessed. One of my favorite parts of traveling is trying out the local favorites, but now that I’m back in California, I’m in desperate need of Mexican food; the cheaper the better.
