Muted Neutrals

UO Sweater, Zara Skirt, Michael Kors Watch, Vintage Bracelet, Reiss Clutch, Steve Madden Booties

I’ve been searching for a leather skirt for longer than I care to admit, so I was ecstatic when I found an affordable one last week at Zara. It’s a classic shape, but feels current with its buttery leather and simple pockets. I’ve already worn it a couple of times since then; once with a plain black shirt and red lipstick and with this camel-colored sweater, that’s equal parts polished and casual. I used to think leather was a bit too rock and roll for me, but it turns out that if the shape is right (like this and this), it can be surprisingly versatile and chic.

Five Things

{My ban.do heart that I attached to my mirror}

This week took it out of me.  While nothing catastrophic happened by any means, I was just off.  Luckily I have a weekend filled with fun plans, including a board game night with friends, some beach time and wine tasting on Sunday.  Sometimes it just takes a few simple activities to lift you right out of a funk. Have a great weekend!

Shimmering Wall

January 27th, 2011

Since I work from home, and spend nearly ten hours a day in my office, it’s crucial for me to keep the decor inspiring and fun.   The pink walls help brighten things up (I used Benjamin Moore’s “Romantic Pink”), but I had a huge space that had been left empty since we moved in.  It was too large (and expensive) to fill with art, so I decided to try something a little different.  I had been lusting after Confetti System’s Tassel Garland for a while and finally bought one for myself.  It creates such a playful, whimsical feel and brings the entire space to life.

Do you have any tips for decorating large, empty walls?

Tangerine Trees and Marmalade Skies

Since Wednesdays are usually my least favorite day of the week, I figured an eye-candy-esque assortment of colors would be just the thing to brighten my mood.  With spring approaching quickly, I can’t wait to wear unapologetically vibrant shades that mirror my favorite fruits.  Whether you’re currently in the snow or already experiencing spring-like weather, these pieces are sure to add a fun splash of color to your daily routine.
