Flea Market Finds

December 7th, 2010

I just posted a picture of my bar here, but over the weekend, I found a replacement.  I’ve always loved the idea of a formal bar with character, and this industrial shop cart does the trick (especially for $60 at the flea market).  The paint is chipping and it’s on wheels (I highly doubt I’ll ever roll it around for thirsty guests) and it balances out our rustic dining table nicely.  We don’t drink every night, but at least we’re well stocked to last us (and our friends) through the holiday season.  Another vintage score was this console table ($30) that fits our awkwardly-sized entryway.  The wood was chipped and uneven, so I simply spray painted it a glossy gold.

Overcast Sundays

Gifted Elizabeth and James Blazer, T by Alexander Wang Top, Dolce Vita Pants, Steve Madden Pumps, Michael Kors Watch, Gifted Foley + Corinna Bag, Essie ‘Lady Godiva’ Nail Polish

I first wore these pants during Fashion Week in September (here) and they’ve been a staple ever since.  I initially questioned whether they’d work with anything other than cropped tops, but I love the contrast with this sharp blazer.   I’ve been exclusively wearing high-waisted pants (I wore these and these last week) and the fact that these are silky and don’t wrinkle is even better.  Perfect for someone who frequently leaves clothing draped over chairs, beds and sofas.

Five Things (Holiday Edition)

December 3rd, 2010

{A festive arrangement for my office}

Since we returned from our whirlwind trip to San Francisco, our apartment has officially made the transition from fall to everything Christmas.  The decorations are all relatively subtle, as far as holidays go, but I’ve been having such a fun time relishing in this time of year in our new place.  I’ve ordered mistletoe to hang from the archways in the entrance, a silver garland to dress up our mantle and glittery pine cones are now on display.  Here’s a little peek into how I’ve been gearing up for December and the five (holiday-inspired) things making me most happy right now.

Weekday Mornings

December 2nd, 2010

Vintage Aviators, Forever 21 Cape, Zara Top, J.Crew Skirt (similar one HERE), Coach Bag, Michael Kors Watch, Urban Outfitters Tights, Elizabeth and James Booties

Weekday mornings are always a bit hectic in our house.  Yesterday we decided to forgo the dirty dishes in the sink, skip the gym and went out for an early breakfast.  It was deceptively cold, so I threw on this sweater cape that I had in my backseat (how fun are the mitten-shaped pockets?) so we could eat outside.   We might not always be able to go out for a leisurely morning meal, but it was a great way to kick off a random Wednesday.
