I’m usually not big on place settings at the table. It’s not that I’m opposed to anyone dictating where I should sit, but far too often the cards are unattractive and take away from the overall aesthetic. For Thanksgiving this year, we’ll have about twenty people, so I offered to make the table settings. I wanted them to be rustic, festive and affordable, so I bought a few bags of pine cones (I didn’t have time to collect them), made tags and secured them with a piece of raffia (all for under $10).

Mara Hoffman Dress, Madewell Necklace, Coach Clutch, Alexander Wang Heels
There are times when I think the LBD gets a bit too much praise. Sure it can go with anything, be dressed up with a few well-placed accessories, but I much prefer a long-sleeved mini dress (I suppose the acronym LSMD just doesn’t have the same ring). I found this dress on sale last week at Intermix and knew it would be the perfect party dress to get me through the holidays. The fabric is just clingy enough and surprisingly warm, so with tights I can get away without wearing a coat; at least in California.

{Clementines that smell as good as they taste}
It seems as though these past few weeks have simply flown by and I’ve had zero time to relax. Luckily it’s supposed to rain all weekend (fingers crossed!) so I’ll be forced to lounge around in pajamas, bake cookies with friends and try to perfect my wintery cocktail (here’s the one I made for summer). I have a magazine shoot on Monday at my apartment so I’m hoping that everything will be close to ready so I can finally start sharing entire rooms on my blog. Until then, here are five things currently making me happy.

Somehow only seven days have passed, but now that Thanksgiving is merely a week away, holiday shopping is now in full swing. I’ve already made several purchases for family and friends, but after putting together today’s guide, it’s clear that I need to add: a pair of mittens that say “place snowball here,” a heart-shaped vase and a preppy tartan coin purse.
