A Coach Celebration

May 28th, 2010

In just over a week, I’m heading out to New York to celebrate the launch of my Coach bag (along with Karla, Kelly and Krystal).   Coach is throwing us a party on Tuesday, June 8th at their store on Madison Avenue and I’d love for you to join!   You can RSVP here.

The one minor detail I still haven’t figured out?  What I’m going to wear.  Here are a few of my potential candidates, but of course these might all change by next week.

1. Helmut Lang, $470
2. Alice + Olivia, $420
3. Rachel Gilbert, $685
4. Alexander Wang, $650
5. Maje, $390
6. Thurley, $540
7. Issa, $415
8. Maje, $385
9. Haute Hippie, $565

Have a fabulous Memorial Day and I will see you all back here on Tuesday!

Sun-drenched Sidewalks

Black Label Mighty Aphrodite Top, Madewell Blazer, Forever 21 Skirt, Vintage Belt, Roxy Sunglasses, Marc by Marc Jacobs Bag, Dolce Vita Platforms

If there’s such thing as stereotypical spring weather, we’ve been experiencing it here this entire week in L.A.  The mornings  start out cool and crisp and the afternoons hover at a perfect temperature that just hints at becoming too warm.   Last night I met a friend for Cuban food and though we were tempted to take in the last bits of sun, we stayed inside.  I’ll probably smell of chicken and rice for the next week or so, but it was entirely worth it.

Strawberry Shortcake

May 26th, 2010

Strawberry shortcake is one of those desserts that is just as fantastic now as it was when I was a child.*  What’s even more exciting is how easy it is to whip together on a random weeknight when strawberries are finally in season (I made an exception a couple months ago here).   I used this recipe, which was exceedingly simple and took full advantage of the fresh berries and flaky biscuits.

*The same cannot be said about Pop-Tarts, Bubble Gum ice cream and Candy Buttons.

Make a Splash

May 25th, 2010

With Memorial Day right around the corner, I’ve finally accepted that bathing suit season has officially arrived.   I’ll be honest, it doesn’t matter how much self tanner I apply or how many crunches I do, trying on swimsuits is just about the most painful shopping experience you can have.  The fluorescent lights, the small dressing quarters and the playhouse mirrors are nobody’s friend.  This year, I’ve taken my search online and have narrowed it down to several different trends that I’ll gladly try on in the comfort of my own home.
