Bows used to play a rather understated part in my ensembles and I love how they’re taking center stage this season. Left behind are the ballerina connotations and in with bold, statement-making details. From Jason Wu’s dramatic gradient dress to an oversized headband from Forever 21, bows are back in a big way.

When I was in middle school, the majority of my hard-earned babysitting money was spent at The Sweet Factory. Bulk candy still proves to be just as enticing, especially when it shares the same space with adorable clothes. Yesterday I stumbled upon A.sweeT, a boutique whose dresses and skirts are equally as impressive as their unrivaled selection of gummy candies. I only spent $7 on my first trip (blame it on the sour apple balls, watermelon ropes and Swedish fish), but I’m sure I’ll do a lot more damage once I head back to try on the clothes.

One of the best things about L.A. is all of the separate neighborhoods that make the city feel a lot smaller than it really is. On Saturday we ventured over to Larchmont Village, one of my favorite areas that’s filled with coffee shops, boutiques and plenty of dogs for me to lurch after. I walked in my shoes for about an hour before my feet started to resemble swollen hooves. Luckily, we passed by a Crumbs right as I started to break into an awkward limp and promptly rewarded myself with a red velvet cupcake.

With New York Fashion Week only days away, it’s hard not to get excited by the influx of über stylish women that are about to descend on the city. Every season brings with it new trends, but I love how a basic black ensemble never goes out of style.
