After I got back from dinner late last night, I decided it was the perfect time to fish our ornaments out from storage and decorate our tree.  Unfortunately, minutes after hanging the last of our glittery snowflakes and mirrored balls, my cat shimmied up the tree and promptly knocked them to the ground.  For this first year with Luna, we’ll have to make do with just the lit tree and a few other decorations around the apartment.

Snow Day

December 9th, 2009

I’m being flown out to New York next week (details to come soon) and it looks like I’m going to get my first taste of winter.  For us West coast natives, anything under 60° is considered arctic and honestly, I’m not sure how I’m going to survive.  I can’t wait to visit the city during Christmastime, but I’m going to have to do some serious shopping before I leave.  Here are some of my cold weather picks and if you have any advice on layering/bundling, I’d be very appreciative!

Parmesan Black Pepper Crackers

December 8th, 2009

Don’t get me wrong – I can put away Wheat Thins and Cheez-Its like it’s nobody’s business, but when it comes to fresh, just-out-of-the oven crackers, I’m a goner.  My mom made these last year and actually had to double the recipe since I polished off an entire batch before our dinner guests arrived.  I made them for a party this weekend and they were just as flaky and perfect as before…except for the fact that most of them remained glued to the baking sheet long after I took them out of the oven.

Note to self: add a couple tablespoons of water to the dough and grease the sheet so you don’t have to shove crumbly pieces of cracker into your mouth.

Winter Lemonade

December 7th, 2009

J.Crew Coat, Splendid Top, Martin + Osa Necklace, UO Jeans, Coach Boots, Gryson Bag

I spent the better half of Saturday afternoon clawing my way through racks of designer shoes at the Barneys sale.  I walked away with these (I’m still slightly undecided about the color) and a new perfume that my boyfriend got me for our two-year anniversary.   The weather was dreary most of the day so when the sun broke through for a few minutes, we made a pit stop for a strawberry and cucumber mint lemonade.

Also, be sure to check out some of my favorite party accessories over at Luckymag.com!
