Flora and Fauna

Despite the fact that most of the country is braving horrendously cold temperatures, I can’t help but fantasize over the influx of floral prints I’ve seen on countless celebrities.  Flowers add such a feminine element, and when paired with a leather jacket (a la Nicole Richie) or a slouchy bag (like Jessica Biel), it makes for the ideal combination.  So, if the cold is forcing you to pair a dress like this with tights and a beanie or it’s warm enough to let this top poke out from under a thin cardigan, it’s an easy way to add a sweet touch of Spring in the middle of January.

Runaway Train

A couple of months ago, I found this blazer at the Flea Market, but have been hard-pressed to find an appropriate occasion to bust out its disco-inspired sparkles.  Rather than waiting around for a festive party, I opted to add a whimsical touch to my daytime ensemble while running errands.  On the way to Trader Joe’s, my boyfriend and I spotted this abandoned train track and thought the run-down exterior would make for the perfect complement to my jeweled jacket.

Also, a big thanks to Kat, who sent over Essie’s beautiful Spring 2009 collection.  I immediately painted on Lacquered Up, a hot crimson shade, on my fingers and decided it was too pretty not to paint on my toes as well.

Slap Happy

This past week has crawled by at a horrendously slow pace, so I couldn’t be more enthusiastic to have a three-day weekend.   I have no current plans, but since the weather has been unbelievably warm, don’t these ideas sound enticingly appealing?

Reading magazines in bed.  Sitting in a cafe with a cappuccino and a crossword puzzle.  Napping on a blanket in the grass.  Having a barbecue at the beach.  Getting a manicure with girlfriends.  Hosting a slumber party.  Drinking mimosas at brunch.  Playing board games.  Watching a DVD in the morning.  Walking around a Farmers’ Market.  Talking to my parents on the phone (they’ve been in Thailand for the past two weeks).

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Seal of Approval

A few weeks back, I mentioned how Wet Seal had overhauled their old, trashy image in lieu of one that’s now filled with romantic, breezy pieces.  Turns out, that only applies to their website since the store I visited on Saturday reeked of raspberry lip balm and Aquanet.  Luckily I managed to find my floral dress in mere seconds and only once I got home was I able to examine its sweetly rouched neckline and delicate pattern.  I’m pleased with my purchase, but only time will tell if another item will tempt me enough so that I’m forced to set foot inside another Wet Seal.
