Club Monaco has always stocked their stores with comfortable basics at reasonable prices but it wasn’t until recently, when I stumbled upon their Winter 2008 Collection, that I became completely smitten. Packed with an Anglomania-inspired lineup of androgynous coats and swingy skirts, all of the pieces are interchangeable and wonderfully classic. Though you can’t purchase pieces online, I highly recommend paying a visit to a nearby store to check out their new eclectic vibe (I just bought the black necklace on the top left and the ruffled blouse on the bottom row).

Yesterday I ventured out for my first holiday shopping excursion and was delighted by the abundance of all things sparkly, sequined and shimmering. All of the unabashedly feminine dresses begged for tough elements, so began my search for a pair of deconstructed buckled boots. I first stumbled across Fiorentini + Baker‘s option at Barney’s and couldn’t deny their supple leather, tri buckles and steep price. Luckily, Steve Madden has an indisputably similar option that will leave you with extra money to splurge on pieces (like this and this) to balance them out perfectly.
EDIT: I managed to find an even cheaper version of the Steve Maddens here for $112!

I’ve long been a fan of Essie nail polish, which is why when Kat, from their PR department, offered to send me the new Winter 2008 collection, I couldn’t have been more excited. Wrapped up in a little box were shimmery golds, candy apple reds and deep purple polishes that are both festive and sultry. I went with the classic Bold and Beautiful on my toes and the dark Damsel in Distress for my fingers and then ran around Beverly Hills on yet another uncharacteristically warm Saturday.

Since I’ve already provided some economical options for dresses and shoes fit for holiday parties, today’s focus is on the finishing touches. Accessories are great for tying together an outfit and adding that special touch that will turn a boring LBD into a stunning ensemble.
Hair Accessory: Urban Outfitters Crystal Plumage Hair Clip, $24. I would throw my hair up in a messy bun and pull back a couple of strands with this sparkly feather clip.
Bright Baubles: Anthropologie Fresh Fruit Posts, $32. With a strapless dress, these deliciously vibrant earrings would make a refreshing statement.
Embellished Clutch: Forever 21 Rio Exotic Beaded Clutch, $24. This screams I-found-this-in-my-grandmother’s-attic with its embellished bead work and a cross-body chain.
Necklace Ice: Banana Republic Geometric Gem Necklace, $89. I love the architectural shape of these deep green gems that would add such a lovely glow.
Lacy Tights:Anthropologie Skein & Hook Tights, $18. Not only would these help keep you warm, but the delicate crochet pattern is exquisite.
Snake Cincher: TopShop Metal Snake Belt, $70. The subtle snake buckle on this thin gold belt is a quirky touch to a formal outfit.
