Swingy Skirts

Over the past several months, I’ve declared my obsession with short, swingy skirts ad nauseum. They’re a versatile and flirty departure from simple dresses and I love how they’re immediately dressed up if worn with some opaque tights. For one week only, Asos is offering 20% off most of the site, but of course I jumped right to their covetable selection of skirts and chose my top six.

1. Lipsy Zip Detail Satin Tulip Skirt: $60 $48
2. Lipsy Snake Print Silk Mini Skirt: $75 $60
3. Pink Soda Matte & Shiny Sequin Mini Skirt: $120 $96
4. Little Miss Sew Skull Embroidered Taffeta Skirt: $60 $48
5. Motel Rose Print Tie Waist Full Mini Skirt $52.50 $42
6. Motel Metallic Bow Waist Full Mini Skirt $52.50 $42

I love the idea of showing up to a party in a fun skirt instead of a predictable LBD, don’t you?

Light My Fire

In an attempt to beat the heat this weekend, my boyfriend and I planned a last-minute trip to San Diego.  Though we were greeted with almost identical weather, the ocean breeze was a nice relief from the smoke-laden air (most of Southern California is up in flames).

After a quick breakfast at Urth, we headed to the world famous San Diego Zoo, where I spent the majority of my day hopping between snack bars.  Turns out, Icees are far more appealing than churros when it’s above 90°.

Following a refreshing dip in the hotel’s rooftop pool, we headed over to the Gaslamp Quater for dinner.  After walking several blocks full of bars and eclectic restaurants, we decided on Cafe Sevilla, for their Spanish tapas and intimate atmosphere.

LOVE YAYA Top, Betsey Johnson Blazer, Forever 21 Hoops,  H&M Cropped Trousers, Seychelles Platforms, Foley + Corinna Bag

Since the weather stayed warm into the night, it was the perfect time to whip out my new H&M trousers that I’ve been itching to wear. Cropped just above the ankle, they’re a fun alternative to jeans and surprisingly even more comfortable.

Hot Child in the City

The temperatures in L.A. are going to be in the 90′s this weekend so we’re getting out of the city. In the meantime, here are some things that have been on my radar:

-It’s embarrassing how much time I’ve spent watching these guys.

-Everything about this outfit is perfection.

-I’m going to attempt to make these once it starts to act like Fall again.

-I’ve decided this is the perfect party shoe (note to self: begin search for a more affordable option next week).

-I desperately want these so that I can serve cheese in style for guests.

Have a fabulous weekend!

Industrial Revolution

Despite my somewhat predictable inclination to gravitate towards skirts and dresses, even I crave something different now and again.  The androgynous look of industrial-inspired clothing has always tempted me, but only recently have I begun to come across pieces that still have a glimmer of delicacy.  I’ve included some of my favorites above that are still neutral enough so that I can wear pale pink lip gloss and a jeweled headband and not feel as though I’m in costume.
