Colonel Mustard
One of the biggest joys of dressing for cooler weather is the abundance of wonderful textures. Yesterday marked the first day of Fall and I could barely wait to comb through my bin filled with fringed scarves, knit hats and thick tights. Since I knew that the brisk morning would only last for several hours before substantially heating up, I opted for my checkered mustard scarf that’s still relatively light with opaque, black tights.

Gap ruffled dress, Forever 21 scarf, watch and ring, Hue tights, Michael Kors wedges, Foley+Corinna bag, vintage aviators.

Silver Lining
Trends almost always emerge on the red carpet and last night’s Emmy Awards were no exception. Glittery gowns stole the show and inspired my love for all things shiny and metallic. Here are some fun options that will be sure to add a bit of sparkle to any outfit.
Fendi’s silver and cream scarf is a glamorous option for throwing on over a dress at night. I love its gentle sheen and subtle logo pattern that can only be seen if you get up close.
J.Crew’s metallic herringbone scooter mini is the perfect skirt for Autumn with its frosted color and over sized buttons. Worn with a simple top, I’d pair it with an ornate, jeweled necklace in a bright color.
Marc by Marc Jacobs’s metal check wristlet is such an edgy departure from the designer’s typical preppy style. The hardware and tiny mirrors are kind of out there, but it would make a great clutch for a night out on the town.

Current Craze: Pixie Market
It’s not often that I come across a site whose styling of outfits is as tempting as the clothes themselves. The pages of PixieMarket.com are flooded with inspirational ensembles from designers like Margo London, Milne, Minimum and Joline Jolink, all of whom are new to me, but have quickly earned my affection. Best of all, I just discovered that the actual store is only a few minutes away, so hopefully I’ll be able to track down some of the items that are sold out online.
The geometric detailing on Bo Van Melskens’s Party On Dress makes this a nice statement piece that has a remarkably slim fit for such a boxy shape.
Dunderdon Vendela’s versatile flannel jacket, with its oblong pockets, masculine shape and charcoal hue, would look amazing paired with skinny pants or a plaid skirt and over-the-knee socks.
Since I quickly tire of wearing sweaters and coats in cooler weather, the Rollins cashmere cape by Jamison is a fantastic alternative. I love the contrasting colors and the bell shape is just the right canvas for some flat riding boots.

Te Casan Sale
For those of you who share my adoration for Natalie Portman, this news will find you well. Her luxury vegan shoe line, that she launched for Te Casan this Spring, is now on sale at Gilt Groupe. I can’t imagine that the incredible options will last through the afternoon, so for those of you that need an account, please just enter your information in the comment section and I’ll send you one right away!

Heading for the Hills
I’m not necessarily proud to admit this, but after seeing multiple images of Lauren Conrad wearing the same style tulip skirt in different colors, I had to do some detective work. Turns out, the Gabrielle Skirt is from her line and its high-waisted, pleated shape has all the right proportions. The red is my favorite that I’d pair with some textured, gray tights and black riding boots. Though I don’t support every budding actress’s fashion line [read: Lindsay Lohan's hideous leggings], this one certainly deserves a second look.

Martha My Dear
If I were only a few inches shorter, I would still don a mask on Halloween and attempt to trick-or-treat with the other children in my neighborhood. Since that’s not exactly a possibility (and the idea’s a bit creepy), I’ve found other ways to celebrate my favorite holiday.
Last year, my friend Rachel, of Heart-of-Light, and I drove about an hour away to visit a pumpkin patch. Of course, we were the oldest ones there without children, but that didn’t stop us from jumping in wheel barrows and laughing our way through the make-shift haunted house. This year, we’ve upgraded just a bit and will be attempting our own Halloween decorations. Since I now live with my boyfriend, I’ve promised to keep them tasteful and simple with a little inspiration from Martha Stewart.
Paper mice – If these were spiders, I couldn’t deal, but these mice are such a fun option to decorate our entryway.
Silhouette Curtains – Not sure if the hanging body would bode well in Beverly Hills, but this would be so perfect for our two big windows facing the street.
Glittered pumpkins – Such a festive way to add a bit of sparkle to a table or mantle.
Do you have any annual Halloween traditions?

Not Your Average Accessories
Ron Herman is one of those notoriously hip, overpriced stores that I simply can’t help but love. Even the site is filled with of-the-moment biker jackets and the softest of sweaters, but it’s the accessories department that truly sets them apart. Here are some of the standouts, all of which have a little something special to spice up a neutral outfit.
With this season’s emergence of statement jewelry comes this Chandelier Necklace by Bliss Lau. Made of antique brass with leather details, this can be looped in all sorts of ways as a delicate focal point for plain, white tops.
It’s no surprise that this incredibly original Ruth Pocket Scarf is from Sienna Miller’s fashion line, Twenty8Twelve. The olive color is an unexpected choice and the miniature, buttoned pockets are such a cute way to keep fingers toasty.
Beanies usually make me resemble an unfortunate snowman, but the details on Carolina K’s Chullo Hat are so adorable that even I feel as though I could pull it off. The cascading pom pom strands, ear muffs and the fact that it’s made of 100% Alpaca just seals the deal.
