A Whole Latte Cereal

My friends would probably say that I have a slight addiction to cereal. This has nothing to do with the fact that I can’t cook worth anything, but to me, it’s simply the perfect meal. Since others find it kind of depressing when I eat Cheerios for dinner, I compensate by using beautiful bowls. Anthropologie’s Latte Bowls are just the right size and in nine different color options, it’s fun to look forward to a different one each morning (or night in my case). They’re sold as a set of six online, so I would suggest visiting the store so that you can mix and match.

How Polished

Sure, varying shades of pink nail polish might look the same to most people, but I’m very particular. I can tolerate minimal amounts of shimmer in reds during the holidays and in very dark colors, but when it comes to pink, it’s easy to end up channeling Barbie. OPI’s new collection, India, includes a fantastically bright pink, I’m India Mood For Love, that pops just the right amount, but never appears fluorescent or cartoon-like.

Toe Embellishment

Toe rings turned tacky and unacceptable in my book around sophomore year in college, but up until then, I had always found the adornment to be provocative. Giuseppe Zanotti’s Flat Crystal Ring Sandals captures that beguiling look, with a crystal embellished ring that wraps around the big toe, and a thin leather strap that goes across the top of the foot. Though they run at a steep $450, Paul Simon got it right when he sang, “Well that’s one way to lose these walking blues, diamonds on the soul of your shoes.”

Waist Not

There is an abundance of emaciated women that run around L.A. in skinny jeans and from the back, they resemble pre-pubescent boys. I’m still quite torn on the look, knowing fully well that I can’t pull it off, but even doubt whether models make it look chic and stylish. High-waisted jeans, on the other hand, are my friend. The Colbert High Waist Flare Jeans by 18th Amendment are made from the softest denim and since they’re so thin, they’re remarkably comfortable. I would balance them out on top with a tucked in blouse and a thin belt, to make the most of the retro style down below.

Baroque Bracelet

Bracelets are usually an afterthought for me, something I throw on when I’m running out the door. Though I only like to draw attention to my arms when they’re toned and tan, I would most certainly make an exception for this piece. Surprisingly, this 18-karat gold plated, white enamel bracelet is from Banana Republic and the green gems add just enough pizazz to distract from any of my own personal shortcomings.

Make Me Up

I manage to go through make-up bags with ridiculous frequency. Whether it’s a lotion spill or mascara that gets smeared across the fabric, I end up purchasing about three a year. In the past, I picked cosmetic bags that merely blended in with my purse, but when this Cris Notti ‘Tangerine Dome’ caught my eye, I knew it was the end of my boring purchases. For $30, this bag is coated with a plastic covering and a fun, pucci-inspired print that is lined in washable nylon, making all spills, smears and smudges a thing of the past.

Couch Companion

To me, Restoration Hardware sounds more like an appliance warehouse than
a provider of amazingly soft bedding. The ‘Luxury Plush Throw‘, for only $49, is so deliciously soft, I was inspired to purchase the entire collection (sadly, the slippers lacked a substantial sole, so they were promptly returned). There is a variety of neutral colors available, but I love this smokey option that’s the perfect size (45″ x 65″) and makes for an ideal companion for curling up on your couch.
